Xmas Cards From Famous People
In which Ashlee, Dubya, Tom Cruise'>Tom Cruise and more wish you very happy holidays.
Sort of
By Mark Morford, SF Gate Columnist
Wednesday, December 14, 2005
May the Lord bless you and keep you this wonderful holiday -- unless, of
course, you are gay or thinking about becoming gay or unless you have at one
time during the past three years considered in any way supporting the "gay
lifestyle." You are all in my thoughts always, unless you are a woman or
pagan or a liberal or Tom Cruise'>Tom Cruise. By the way, materialism is evil and has
robbed Christmas of its true meaning -- which is, of course, guilt and death
and sin. Dig my gold-encrusted robes. Oh, and please buy my book. Available
on Amazon for only 13 bucks! You save 32 percent! Joy to the world.
-- Pope Benedict XVI
Hey fans and doods and everyone else who was, like, totally duped into
buying my new CD because you somehow believed that my voice didn't actually
sound like a paper shredder drowning in pudding. I hope you all have, like,
the rockinest Christmas ever! Thanks to all who supported me thru my "SNL"
lip-synching fiasco and my drunken McDonald's rampage. But I rebounded! Did
you hear me at the Billboard Music Awards? I shattered glass! Toes curled!
Animals shuddered! I can too sing, even if critics think I sound like a
D-grade Avril Lavigne being beaten with a live chicken, underwater! Rock,
like, on! I am me! Or whatever.
-- Ashlee Simpson
This holiday season, I love you all. But I also hate you, too. I have more
money than all of you put together, yet I am miserable. But still I am
gorgeous and skinny and rich, so I am very, very happy. Sort of. But then
again, not. Oh my God, what am I saying? Why do I have to put up with all
you people? And this drug scandal! So unfair! Rehab is for divas and porn
stars and the Olsen twins. The coke wasn't even all that good, you know? Why
can you not get good blow these days? Oh crap, did I just write that out
loud? Dammit. Note to British tabloids: Burn in hell you bloody baboons. I
shall rise again. French Vogue forever! Merry Christmas everyone! Hi Naomi!
-- Kate Moss
To all Earth creatures great and meek: Greetings from on high! No, not that
kind of "high," silly. Pills are bad! I am not gay! Get off the
psychiatrist's couch and get yourself clear of all engrams! Beware: Xenu
wants to suck your brain and impregnate your dog. I am now OT6 and know the
secrets of "The Incident," the great alien war! Shhh! Katie and I wish you a
very happy holiday, even though we Scientologists only believe in the
Invisible Gnomes of Althion Galaxy 9 and therefore only exchange the "gift"
of genetically engineered interdimensional alien DNA via elaborate
color-coded colonics. Right, Katie? Katie is nodding yes and smiling that
creepy, slightly narcotized smile that is now her trademark. Good girl,
Katie!

Yo my peoples. I been shot nine times. Please buy my horrible video game.
Most overrated rapper of the year! But yo, I look mean and badass, yo! Can't
dance like Usher can't sing like Kanye can't rhyme like Em, but yo I sure
can gangsta bling cool! I been shot nine times. Check out my new line of
custom-embroidered linens at Pottery Barn, in the Northgate Mall. I'll be
there 'tween 3 and 4 signin' pomegranate-scented candles and Berettas, yo.
Merry Xmas. Peace out. I been shot nine times.
-- 50 Cent
Dear America. This holiday, our country must be strong. To be strong we must
be able to yank out the fingernails and attach electrodes to the genitals of
swarthy foreign people we do not like until their chest hairs burn and they
finally reveal to us the location of their terrorist sleeper cell, or their
university diploma, whichever. Without agony, there would be no Santa. You
think those reindeer like to fly? You see Santa's whips? It is a world of
pain and retribution, people. You are either a hammer or a nail. Be a
hammer, America! Just like Jesus commanded. God bless.
-- Dick 'n' Rummy
Hello, little people. During this fine holiday season, unto you we shall
bestow tiny glimpses of our unimaginable beauty. Alas, we cannot appear
frequently in the same room together lest our joint radiance cause your
eyeballs to explode in over-ecstatic delight. But be it known, we are
thinking of you, always. Especially those of you who park our cars and
bleach our teeth and provide day care for our little imported babies. Peace
to all. Sorry about "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Jen, please quit calling and
hanging up. We know it's you.
-- Brad 'n' Angie, Maddox 'n' Zahara
Christ be with you, and also with this pile of toasted cheese sandwiches we
so desperately need to consume lest we both shrivel into stick-like slivers
of bone and loose skin and bitchin' Prada totes. Cigarettes and coffee, yay!
We are America's sweethearts and screw that bitch Lindsay Lohan -- ptew
ptew! We make all dreams come true. We may not be all that bright, but we
sure are cute! You cannot have sex with us! Please quit wagering which of us
will date/marry/be dumped by a soccer star/ Greek shipping tycoon/Wilmer
Valderrama and fail at rehab first. Happy holidays, America. Please kneel
before our terrifying billion-dollar fashion/magazine/DVD empire! Christmas
yay! Totally!
-- Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen
Infidels shall pay by the mighty hand of Allah! Saddam not returning to
dishonorable courtroom! OK seriously, happy holidays and thanks to CIA for
totally botching kangaroo trial. So funny! Saddam is way humored! By the
way, Osama is living like a king just off Jersey turnpike on Karl Rove's
dime. I have proof! By the way, I was brutal heartless dictator and even I
ran my country better than U.S. Ha! "Nation-building" my big fuzzy butt! By
the way, I know where WMD is located! Inside scary capri pants of Ann
Coulter! Ha! OK, back to laughing in face of infidel judge. Peace out.
-- Saddam
Please forgive lack of postmark on card, also lack of discernible background
that might give away "secret" location of me (note: not Jersey turnpike).
Ha! Is big joke, no? Over $300 billion for "war on terror" and you can't
even find little old hairy me! Either I am mad genius, or your leaders are
dumbern'a sack of garbanzo beans. Is both? Wow, Saddam begin to look more
and more like Mel Gibson every day, no? Allah rain curses upon all infidels!
Everybody Loves Raymond! Is Tom Cruise'>Tom Cruise not gay? Allah crushes Santa like
stale falafel patty! I kiss you!
-- Osama
Happy holidays to you, unless you are not me. Blue crayons and bubble bath.
Who turned off the lights? No one will listen to me anymore. Gabba gabba
gee, booga booga woo. See? What happened to the pretty songs and the cheers?
What happened to all those creepy praying sycophants? Wow, that was a big
word for me to write. The voices are getting louder, Mommy. Laura is
muttering in pig Latin from over in the corner, rocking back and forth. No
one is listening. Rubber band peanut butter sponge bath. Oh my God, I need a
drink. What's that smell? Is my time almost up yet? Can I go home now? Happy
holidays, America. The GOP loves you. Kidding.

Ashlee Simpson and Avril Lavigne kiss and make up

ASHLEE HAS FORGIVEN AVRIL
Pop star ASHLEE SIMPSON has forgiven AVRIL LAVIGNE for nasty comments the
Canadian made about her singing ability after her infamous lip-synching on
US live TV show SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE - because she has since apologised.
Simpson reveals she confronted the pop punk at a party and asked her about
comments she made suggesting Simpson "didn't deserve" to be on the SNL stage
if she relied on backing tapes.
Simpson says, "I won't say anything bad about anyone, even if they talk
about me.
"I hung out with Avril once and I said to her, 'Hey, I heard that you said
some things,' and she was like, 'Sorry,' and that was cool.
"I'm not in high school and I don't need drama."

Avril's Engaged
The celeb couple for rock fraternity, Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley, have
decided to live together in holy matrimony.
The punk princess and Sum 41 frontman, 20 and 25 respectively, are engaged
after dating for more than a year.
Deryck popped the question to fellow rocker Avril in Venice, as she was
wrapping up her European tour.
The pair are engaged after a false start - when Deryck pretended to propose
last year to show how easily the press could be misled.
But this time it's a little more confirmed - publicists for both musicians
confirmed it to US weekly.
We've yet to hear whether Avril will ease up on the eyeliner for the
wedding.
The pair have plenty in common apart from their native Ontario, Canada and
the LA house they share.
Their punk rock tunes have earned them equal success - Lavigne tallied up
five Grammy nominations for her debut album Let Go, and Sum 41 have bagged
themselves a top 10 album the US with their latest release

Kelly Osbourne'>Kelly Osbourne has new album and no regrets
Kerry L. Smith
For The Associated Press
Jun. 15, 2005 02:40 PM
NEW YORK - Rehab. Her weight. Her first album. Verbally attacking pop stars
like Christina Aguilera. Fighting with her brother on national television.
Being a rock star's daughter.
Kelly Osbourne'>Kelly Osbourne isn't sorry for any of it.
"In order to do something better you have to make mistakes," the 21-year-old
singer/actress/aspiring fashion designer said during a recent interview at
Sanctuary Records in New York City - shortly before she entered rehab for
the second time in as many years.
Osbourne has made a lot of changes in her life - and she's not referring to
her numerous hairstyles.
"I have nothing to hide and I never will have anything to hide," Osbourne
said.
Osbourne's sophomore album, "Sleeping in the Nothing," was produced and
co-written by Linda Perry (Pink, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani). It's a
collection of dance-inducing pop tracks on which Osbourne sings frankly
about nearly every aspect of her life.
The result is deeply personal. "Every single person in this world has
skeletons in their closet. Including myself," she says. "But when it comes
to personal things like boyfriends and the way that I live my life, the
world already knows about it, so I don't have anything to hide."
Which is true, considering that the majority of her young adult life took
place on MTV's hit reality show, "The Osbournes."
Distancing herself from certain Osbourne stigmas hasn't been easy. "I will
never escape that identity," she said. "And that took a long time to come to
terms with. That part of my life was a roller coaster and now I'm moving on
and I hope that I get to achieve great things."
Like acting. Having starred in the ABC teen drama "Life As We Know It" last
year, Osbourne hopes to someday make movies.
The headstrong Osbourne already knows what she would like to star in - an
adaptation of the memoir "A Million Little Pieces," by James Frey.
"I read this book, half of it when I was in rehab (last summer) and half
when I got out. It helped me get through it. And the story of this guy, the
way that he describes his illness, (it) was very similar to mine."
Osbourne openly discusses her experiences with drug abuse on songs like "Red
Light" and "Save Me." But taking a stand against a dark chapter in her life
was just one part of Osbourne's experience making this album. Thanks to
Perry's support, Osbourne was able to write lyrics about rehab as well as
some of her less-than-satisfying romantic experiences on songs like "Secret
Lover."
"That was a huge growing experience for me," Osbourne said. "(But) I'm glad
that it happened because I felt things that were so deeply painful."
With the release of this album, which Osbourne says is a representation of a
"more mature" reincarnation of herself, also comes a truer representation of
the girl known as Kelly Osbourne'>Kelly Osbourne. That, she says, has been the biggest
reward.
"I don't think I'm trying to reinvent myself. I think I'm finding myself,
being myself ... instead of having somebody telling me what to do."
But don't expect the potty-mouthed Osbourne to become a pushover just
because she has grown up.
"I respect my first record because I don't like it," she said. "That album
was my learning process. I was a huge marketing ploy. They thought if they
signed me they'd make money. They tried to make me like Avril Lavigne or
Ashlee Simpson (or) Fefe Dobson. It's just so stupid and fake and contrived
and I never fed into that ... it was sick."
She may have gained more control over her music, but Kelly Osbourne'>Kelly Osbourne is still
her father's daughter - and her mother's. While Ozzy rarely offers Kelly
little more than performance advice, Sharon often has a lot of guidance for
her daughter. Having your mother as your manager isn't easy, but the
new-and-improved Kelly Osbourne'>Kelly Osbourne has learned to adapt.
"I learned the hard way ... that she was right. Because she really does know
what she's talking about. Now, it's all about compromisation," she said. "If
it was anyone else's mother, I'd be like, 'Sod off.' "

So Avril Lavigne is going to sing songs of yesteryear (supposedly).
This as Paul Anka comes out with a new CD of his interpretations of
rock songs of the last 30 years.
Interesting.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Being the daughter of a rock star and a staple on
reality TV can easily get you a recording contract, but respect and
success in the music business are much harder to come by, according to
Kelly Osbourne.
The daughter of heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne, Kelly became famous in
her early teens as the bratty progeny of Black Sabbath's singer in
MTV's hit reality series "The Osbournes."
Sony quickly signed her to record an album, but her punk-pop debut
failed to impress fans and critics, and she fell into a spiral of drug
abuse.
After a stint in rehab, Osbourne, now 20, signed with an indie label
and reinvented herself as an '80s dance music singer. In her quest to
gain respect as a musician, she will release the electro-pop record
"Sleeping In The Nothing" on June 7 via Sanctuary Records.
"It might be easier for me to get to the door, but 10 times harder for
me to walk through it, because people want to see you fail," she
recently told Reuters. "My father is such an incredible and talented
man, he has so many fans and when they look at me they say 'What a
brat, why the (expletive) would she even bother?' I bother because I
love doing what I do."
Her first album, titled "Shut Up," saw her cast as an Avril Lavigne
wannabe, singing songs that she now calls "crap."
"I'm not a rock star, I am a rock star's daughter, and that's how I got
into this industry," she said. "I was a huge marketing ploy."
Her music career seemed to head toward an early end when Sony dropped
her, and she went into rehab for drug abuse. Around the same time her
mother Sharon was battling cancer, Ozzy nearly died in an
all-terrain-vehicle crash and her brother Jack also struggled with drug
addiction.
"I got sober and I realized how I abused my body and how I was horrible
to other people," she said. "And that alone makes you realize life
could be so much better without (drugs)."
Sober and a little older, Kelly said she finally found her true calling
in synthpop under the guidance of producer and hit machine Linda
Perry (Pink, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera).
"Dance, electro, '80s music has always been what I listened to, so it's
really exciting for me that I get to do what I love now instead of
acting," she said. "This album makes me so happy because it's real and
not contrived."
Perry produced and wrote the music, while Kelly came up with melody
lines and lyrics.
"I wrote about my life, about going to rehab, having my heart broken,
being different," she said. "At that time of my life, because what I
was doing to myself, I had no dreams, no hopes, no fantasies. I was
kind of asleep within myself, so that's why I called (the album)
'Sleeping In The Nothing."'
Asked if she thought people would ever see her as more than just Ozzy's
daughter, she quickly shook her head.
"No ... Maybe people one day might take me seriously as a singer,
hopefully they will," she said. "But I can never escape the fact that
I'm Ozzy Osbourne's daughter and I am proud to be his daughter. My last
name is Osbourne and I can never change that."

Lavigne 'drinking too much'
19/05/2005 - 14:01:17
Star Magazine reports that friends of Avril Lavigne are worried that she is
drinking too much.
One says: "Avril's drinking is getting worse and worse. She's always liked
to party but recently all she wants to do is get drunk. And when she gets
drunk she wants to fight and cause trouble. She's turning into a nightmare!"
What's worse is that despite being seen boozing all over Los Angeles, she is
still too young to legally drink.
But when has that ever stopped a celeb? Those close to Lavigne are worried
that music is taking second place to partying.
No word from Avril on the matter, but surely it can only be a matter of time
before she turns up in Vegas at a wedding chapel with her backing guitarist?
