NY DAILY NEWS...LLOYD GROVE'S LOWDOWN
Mega-diva Barbra Streisand and television actor James Brolin might be
millionaires many times over, but don't expect them to pay $20 for a
pair of movie tickets.
Arriving at the Mann Agoura Hills 8 near their Malibu estate on Friday
night - apparently to see "Mission: Impossible III" - the
64-year-old singer-actress and her 65-year-old hubby wheedled their way
into free seats by schmoozing the teenager in charge.
"We asked especially for you," Streisand cooed to the young man at the
customer service desk, as Brolin smiled a winsome supporting-actor
smile. "We haven't seen you in a while," La Streisand went on.
The flattered young man said he'd been transferred briefly to a
different Mann multiplex, and added: "You're always welcome here. We'll
take care of you."
Then he waved the happy couple past the ticket-takers.
Unluckily for Babs and Jim, the transaction was witnessed by paying
customer Jennifer Grossman, a fellow Malibu resident and self-described
"subversive right-winger" who doesn't much care for Streisand's
Democratic politics.
"I just couldn't believe it," Grossman told me yesterday. "It's one
thing to be comped their tickets, but it's quite another to ask to be
comped, in order to save a lousy $20 bucks. But she's notorious for
being this way. I wonder if she goes to Ralph's in Malibu and asks if
she can have her groceries for free."
Yesterday, Streisand's PR rep said it's customary for "major stars" to
get into movies for free. "It's a professional courtesy that many
theaters extend to film stars." But Mann's doesn't have a policy of
comping celebs.
Tom Cruise's rep, Paul Bloch, declined to comment on the Streisand
freebies, but did crow that "M:i:III" had grossed $213 million
worldwide as of this past weekend. "It was Tom's biggest non-holiday
opening."
No thanks to Streisand and Brolin.

Your ageism is showing...
Charles was much better looking in his youth. His father was extremely good
looking (and still is), as was his Great Uncle David (the abdicator). Andy
and Edward were considered "dreamy" when they were young too... HM was very
beautiful in her youth. While I don't believe Camilla was "stunning" in her
youth, she was certainly not unattractive.
There's plenty of beauty in the Windsor family line.
Money, style, "charisma," and social position all have a way to make people
look attractive, especially after they've had time to get used to it and
figure out how to best make things "work." Camilla and Charles have only
been married a year... give her time - as she becomes accustomed to
constant scrutiny and all of the options available to her, she will become
more stylish and "beautiful" to the public eye.

Barbra and the Prince
March 29, 2006 - 4:43PM
Barbra Streisand ... a new biography alleges her list of lovers included
Prince Charles and Andre Agassi.
An unauthorised biography of Barbra Streisand alleges the singer has had
more than her fair-share of celebrity sexfests in her day.
In his new book, Barbra: The Way She Is, Christopher Anderson alleges
Streisand notched up many big names on her star-studded belt, including
Prince Charles, Dodi Fayed, Andre Agassi and Bill Clinton.
Other former conquests include Warren Beatty, Ryan O'Neal, Steve McQueen,
Kris Kristofferson, Don Johnson, Jon Voight, Elliott Gould, Richard Gere,
Omar Sharif and Liam Neeson.
Anderson says the 63-year-old actress is "cheap", prone to huge tantrums and
has a "Maria Callas-sized ego".
Streisand was also allegedly banned from the White House by first lady
Hillary Clinton after she discovered the singer had stayed the night while
she was away and Bill Clinton remained at home.
According to the New York Post, Anderson also claims that Streisand had such
a deep-rooted fear of being assassinated for her outspoken support for
Israel, that when she staged a concert around the time of the Six-Day War in
1967, she spent the time weaving around the stage trying to make herself a
more difficult target for any sniper attack.

NY POST...PAGE 6
PEOPLE who love Barbra Streisand concerts are the luckiest people in
the world - because the legendary songstress is doing another farewell
tour, Page Six has learned.
The Brooklyn-born diva - who previously bid her fans goodbye in 2000 -
is to hit the road this fall, says our insider, but there's already
plenty of behind-the-scenes intrigue.
We're told that Streisand's tour will have 20 shows, in which she'll
perform "in the round" from the middle of arenas. She'll be paid $2
million per show, and the best tickets will go for $1,500 a pop.
Streisand's handlers have yet to secure an opening act. "They've tried
unsuccessfully for Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond and Andrea Bocelli as
opening acts," says our music industry snitch. "They're trying to get
[operatic vocal group] Il Divo now."
Our mole continued, "The big worry is, 'Can Barbra lose the extra 50
pounds she's put on?' She feels that confirming the dates is the only
thing that will make her lose the weight.
"The promoter is Michael Cohl, who does the Rolling Stones. The
industry is freaked out about her ticket prices as the greediest ever.
Her manager, Marty Erlichman, has screwed [talent agency] CAA out of
their involvement, so there's a lotta bad blood out there about this
one."
Streisand's last "final" tour began on New Year's Eve 1999 in Las Vegas
and ended at a sold-out Madison Square Garden show in September 2000,
which drew the likes of Rosie O'Donnell, Sarah Jessica Parker, Penny
Marshall, Madeleine Albright and Drew Barrymore.
In June of 2004, Streisand, a vocal critic of President Bush, sang at a
Los Angeles fundraiser for Sen. John Kerry, raising $5 million for his
campaign.
More recently, Streisand worked on a new album with former Bee Gee
Barry Gibb, starred in "Meet the Fockers," and holed up at her Malibu
mansion with her husband of seven years, James Brolin.
Erlichman was said to be traveling yesterday and could not be reached
for comment. Streisand spokesman Ken Sunshine declined comment.

Minnelli does have a Grammy - albeit an honorary one - to go with her
Oscar, Emmy, and Tony. She was in the first group of performers to
receive a Legend of Grammy Award when it was inaugurated in 1990.
She's also got a Golden Globe and a Razzie to fill out the shelf.

- If America can be said to have a Queen of Show Business, then Streisand surely fills the bill. Absolutely uncompromising in her determination to excel in whatever she attempts, this performerproducer/director has fought every step of the way for respect in an industry that doles it out sparingly to women. A cabaret singer and recording artist who burst onto Broadway in 1962's "I Can Get It for You Wholesale," Streisand wowed audiences with her seemingly boundless energy and astonishing vocal range. She subsequently won a Tony nomination for her characterization of show-biz legend Fanny Brice in "Funny Girl," and taped a number of TV specials (one of which, 1965's "My Name Is Barbra," won her an Emmy) before starring in the movie adaptation of Funny Girl (1968), which earned her a Best Actress Oscar (in a rare tie, with Katharine Hepburn for The Lion in Winter.
Hello, Dolly! (1969) and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (1970) followed, and despite their shortcomings, Streisand joined the firmament of great movie-musical stars. The genre was on the wane, though, and she elected to broaden her range in nonmusical vehicles. She scored as a comically crude hooker in The Owl and the Pussycat (also 1970) and as the madcap heroine of What's Up, Doc? (1972). Up the Sandbox (also 1972) gave her a more serious role. She was then paired with 1970s dreamboat Robert Redford in the romantic The Way We Were (1973, Oscar-nominated), a smash hit she followed with the feeble comedy For Pete's Sake (1974) and a surprisingly lame sequel, Funny Lady (1975).
With then-boyfriend Jon Peters, Streisand turned producer; her 1976 remake of A Star Is Born earned her a Best Song Oscar with Paul Williams for "Evergreen," but irritated some observers who felt she lost objectivity as both producer and star. She slipped further with a pair of flop comedies, The Main Event (1979) and the underrated All Night Long (1981); in the latter she hurriedly replaced Lisa Eichhorn in midproduction, taking her only supporting role to date. Since then, her output has been meager, but she has revealed, from movie to movie, an increasingly impressive grasp of the filmmaking process. She donned the director's cap (as well as men's clothing) for the ambitious musical Yentl (1983; she also produced and cowrote), played a psy chotic hooker in Nuts (1987), and directed, produced, and costarred in The Prince of Tides (1991), enduring critical snipes along the way, but earning a growing degree of respect as well for her accomplishments. Divorced from Elliott Gould, by whom she has a son, Jason; he appeared as her offspring in Tides.
- "One thing's for sure: now W_hen I look at Funny Girl, I think I was gorgeous. I was too beautiful to play Fanny Brice."
- "I hate tooting my own horn, but after Steven [Spielberg] saw Yentl, he said, 'I wish I could tell you how to fix your picture, but I can't. It's the best film I've seen since Citizen Kane.'"
- "I am simple, complex, generous, selfish, unattractive, beautiful, lazy, and driven."
- "The audience is the barometer of the truth."
- "Oh God, don't envy me, I have my own pains."
- Turned down the role of call girl Bree Daniels in "Klute" (1971) which won Jane Fonda an Oscar.
- Only Oscar recipient for both acting and songwriting.
- Only artist to receive Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, CableACE and Peabody awards.
- Artist with Grammy nominations in the most categories -- 9.
- First woman since the silent era to direct, produce, write and star in a feature film; she also sings (Yentl).
- Second single largest grossing American concert engagement, with $16.6 million, 7 peformances, Madison Square Garden, 1994 (#1: $19 million, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, 15 performances, Continental Airlines Arena, 1999) .
- Highest grossing single concert, with $14,694,750, MGM Grand Garden Arena, December 31, 1999.
