Every now and then some posters turn up who are obviously celebrities
(or their veryclose friends). Some posters do not post "regularly", but
always post on one celeb only when they do post - and those posts are
always such long winded rationalizations of why the particular celeb is
the ants pants - so you know it is them. You can often pick them out in
the lead up to and aftermath of the oscar ceremonies. It is pretty
simple to google a 'suspect' poster and see their posting history if
your radar goes off.
I suspect one or two of the regular posters here of being (non-ctor)
'names', especially those that are very articulate and knowledgeable
about the film industry and yet like to laugh like pre-pubescent hyenas
whenever major actors get bitch slapped. FWIW, If I were a celeb, I
would never read these groups - I know I couldn't handle the truth!

HOLLYWOOD (Reuters) - "Star Wars" creator George Lucas received a top
Hollywood honor on Thursday at a dinner where he was embraced by
Chewbacca the Wookiee and jokingly denounced by Princess Leia as the
man "who ruined my life."
Lucas received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the nonprofit
American Film Institute at a black-tie dinner attended by a who's who
of Hollywood, including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher,
actors from the original "Star Wars" films. Actors Tom Hanks and
Richard Dreyfuss, director Steven Spielberg and the immense fur-covered
"Star Wars" warrior Chewbacca the Wookiee were also on hand.
Not all were complimentary, however, as Lucas was subjected to a good
deal of good-natured ribbing.
Ford, who played Han Solo in the popular film series, complained he was
never Lucas' first choice for the role, saying, "when he was casting I
couldn't even get a meeting." He complained that the same thing
happened when Lucas was casting for the Indiana Jones role in "Raiders
of the Lost Ark."
Fisher, who played Princess Leia, told the audience, "Hi. I am Mrs. Han
Solo and I am an alcoholic because George Lucas ruined by life. ...
George Lucas is a sadist, but like any other young girl in a metal suit
chained to a metal (creature), I keep coming back for more."
She complained that the success of the series provided the stars with a
lot of fan mail and "a small merry band of stalkers," and in a
reference to Lucas's wizardry in creating lifelike digital characters
she said, "I hope I slept with you to get that job, because if not, who
the hell was that guy."
In accepting the award, Lucas joked that he started out not being able
to write a word, but became "the king of wooden dialogue."

Christensen embodies Vader's black heart
By DAVID GERMAIN
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) - Half of Hollywood is playing a superhero these
days, it seems. Hayden Christensen is more than content to play the
super-villain.
Amid the current onslaught of heroes such as Spider-Man, Batman, the
Fantastic Four and X-Men, Christensen takes ultimate bad guy Darth Vader to
the dark side with Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
The last instalment in George Lucas' space opera about the Skywalker family,
Revenge of the Sith completes the story explaining how a brash young Jedi
knight was seduced by an evil mentor and became the venomous Vader.
After landing the role of Anakin Skywalker as a lovesick, discontented teen
in episode two, Attack of the Clones, the Canadian actor finally got to the
moment he - and every other Star Wars fan - has been waiting for with
Revenge of the Sith.
"I just really wanted to put the costume on," Christensen, who was born in
Vancouver and grew up in the Toronto area, said in an interview at Lucas'
Skywalker Ranch. "Who wouldn't?"
The new film follows Anakin's descent into evil and lust for power, which
lead him to near-fatal injuries and a rebirth as the part-flesh,
part-machine Vader behind the black helmet, mask and cape made famous in
Lucas' original Star Wars trilogy.
Christensen, 24, appears only briefly in the Vader get-up near the movie's
end, but those scenes electrified even those working on the film. The day he
appeared in full costume, the whole team turned up on set to "bear witness
to Darth Vader for the first time," Christensen said.
"It was absolutely overwhelming, just from the aspect of getting to act
behind a mask," Christensen said. "That is a very freeing position to act
from, and to have that mask be the mask of Darth Vader is extremely
empowering.
"I almost got this sort of beastly sense when I was in it. What was really
cool was watching everyone else sort of look at me, people I knew and was
friends with, you know. Their eyes would light up with sort of a glimmer of
fear, or there was a respect that needed to be paid. They had to step back
and sort of lower their heads. It was a day I'll never forget."
Another such day came five years ago, when Christensen was hurled from
relative obscurity to household name almost overnight. Lucas picked him from
a handful of finalists to take over from child actor Jake Lloyd, who played
Anakin as a boy in episode one, The Phantom Menace.
At the time, Christensen had only a few TV credits and some small film
roles. The news hit him like one of the bolts of blue lightning shot from
the fingers of Vader's master, the evil emperor.
Christensen recalls "rushing out into my living room at the time and having
a mock light-sabre duel with my roommate. And he was a DJ, and he put on the
Star Wars soundtrack and blasted it. That was a fun time."
After shooting Attack of the Clones, Christensen quickly followed with Kevin
Kline's small contemporary drama Life As a House, playing a petulant teen
reconciling with his dying father.
Life As a House hit theatres months before his Star Wars debut, allowing
Christensen to present audiences an early glimpse of his acting chops
untainted by the Anakin persona.
Christensen then had the lead role in the acclaimed independent film
Shattered Glass, playing a real-life journalist who went from wonderboy to
disgrace after it was discovered he fabricated stories.
With Revenge of the Sith, Christensen surpassed his performance from Attack
of the Clones, presenting a full-bodied performance of a willful man who
succumbs to his fears and ambitions, said Ian McDiarmid, the veteran British
stage actor who plays the emperor.
"The thing about Hayden's performance is, I think he takes the audience with
him every inch of that way, so that people will not be sympathetic to his
actions, but at least will understand why he has done them," McDiarmid said.
Playing to that dark side feels like an easy fit for Christensen, who said
he gravitates toward dusky figures with secrets to hide.
"I guess I have a certain affinity with the more shadowy sides of life and
people," Christensen said. "I've always thought of personality as like an
onion and having layers and layers of good and bad, good intentions and bad
intentions, and what is ultimately at the core of someone.
"So I like playing characters who have a complexity. People sometimes
presenting a face that they're really not. But then, I'm doing comedy right
now, so we'll see."
Next up for Christensen is the 14th century comic adventure The Decameron,
based on the tales of Boccaccio. The film is now shooting in Italy.
The range of roles Christensen has earned hint he may avoid the typecasting
suffered by Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, whose careers went downhill after
the original Star Wars trilogy.
Christensen already figures Star Wars likely will be his career high point
and Anakin the role he's most associated with.
That prospect does not concern him so long as he can find challenging parts
somewhere: "It's fun for me if I go off and make small movies that nobody
sees."

Fisher To Reveal 'Star Wars' Secrets
Actress-turned-novelist Carrie Fisher is set to expose the secrets of the

Television and Radio's William S. Paley Festival's sold-out tribute to
"Desperate Housewives." ABC's cheeky runaway prime-time soap revels in
the trials, angst and intrigue of a group of five suburban women played
by Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher and
Nicollette Sheridan. (Brenda Strong, whose character emptied the
contents of a revolver into her skull in the premiere episode, narrates
cheerfully from beyond the grave.) The show's success was discussed by
creator Marc Cherry and its cast (save Hatcher, who Cherry said was
shooting that night). The men of Wisteria Lane were allowed to
participate as well, as did the producers. An early episode of the
series was screened in which perfect Bree's (Cross) imperfect son mowed
down restless Gabrielle's meddlesome mother-in-law and guest star
Richard Roundtree offered the observation, "Sometimes evil drives a
minivan."
Actress/author/screenwriter Carrie Fisher then moderated a panel
discussion, distancing herself from the duller questions that the Paley
staff had provided her.
Here are the lessons we gleaned on how to create water-cooler
television and what happens to cast members' private lives when they
suddenly find themselves on TV's hottest new show.
First things first - fashion report: Cross dazzled in a burgundy satin
dress. Huffman wore a simple, elegantly form-fitting black party dress.
Longoria concealed her physique, seen often enough on the show, beneath
a cream-colored jacket and ensemble. Sheridan came casual in a jacket
and jeans. Cherry was resplendent in a black sport coat and crimson
T-shirt with suspenders.
Everything old is new again: The festival's program notes for
"Desperate Housewives" - which critics declared one of the most
original series in years - found echoes of, among other things, "Peyton
Place," "Melrose Place," "Sex and the City," "American Beauty,"
"Gilmore Girls" and John Cheever's tales of suburban anomie.
Cherry mentioned yet more inspirations - Woody Allen movies, for one_
then deadpanned, "I stole from so many places, it came out original."
He related the famous story of how he was inspired to create the show:
Discussing the case of a woman on trial for drowning her children, he
wondered to his own mother, what would drive someone to consider
hurting her own children. She replied, "I've been there."
Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be TV writers: Cherry revealed
a source of many plot lines' inspirations: "Every writer has some story
of their mother doing something awful."
He remembered his mother, driven to distraction by his youthful
misbehavior, kicking him out of her car and driving off. "I remember
that car getting smaller and smaller in the distance," he said. (She
came back eventually.)
"Some could say, 'That's abuse,' but I say, 'Well, it was pretty
effective.' " Cherry revealed that Huffman's harried Lynette is based
on his mother when he was a child, while Cross' acidly demure Bree is
based on his mother in his teen years.
"She says to me, 'Oh, that interesting Bree character, in her pearls.'
I say, 'Mom, you're wearing pearls right now.' There's a little bit of
a disconnect.
"My mom doesn't get it yet."
Panel etiquette Huffman's cell phone went off midpanel; she pretended
to take a call from her husband, William H. Macy. Longoria and Sheridan
whispered together while Cherry spoke, but since they were mic'ed up,
one could almost make out what they were saying. Almost.
"Why is mine only on?" Longoria wondered with a laugh after realizing
her asides were being broadcast to the audience. "This is so
uncomfortable."
"Get drunk beforehand," Cherry advised.
Popping the paparazzi: Longoria, who has become the show's favorite
tabloid target, revealed some of the ways in which she has toyed with
shutterbug stalkers. Dining with a gay friend, the two emerged from the
restaurant holding hands. "Sure enough, the (tabloid) headlines read:
`Eva's New Man.' "
But she has learned some lessons from the ubiquitous unwanted
attention: "If you got something free and you want more of it," she
explained, get photographed with it. Seeing paparazzi outside her home
one day, she grabbed a favorite handbag and headed out, posing for a
shot.
"It (appears) in a magazine, and (the designer) sent me more bags,"
Longoria exulted.
Cross, who shares Longoria's taste in accessories, high-fived her.
It's not just the gals: James Denton, who plays neighborhood mystery
hunk Mike Delfino, says photographers pursue him, too: "I had a guy try
to take my picture with a picture-phone at a urinal."
Cherry joked, "I apologized."
Moment of amusing honesty: Cherry acknowledged that he was reluctant to
hire Cross to play Bree: "She was too much like my own mother. I think
I was scared."
Once he saw Cross' work, he admitted, "I thought: 'I'm stupid.' " To
Cross' credit, it was difficult to tell whether she was swollen with
pride or utterly aghast at being compared to a middle-age man's prissy
mother.
Season eight spoiler alert: "In season eight, the women will become
terrorists," Cherry said. To be fair, this revelation came in the
context of Cherry's admission that it's difficult to continuously
uncork shocking narrative revelations.
"We will run out of ideas in November of next year," he predicted.
Spoiler alert, honest: "Most everything (regarding the show's myriad
mysteries) will be revealed in the last two or three episodes," Cherry
revealed. And Brenda Strong will return in person in the final episode.
S&M as clean-cut, all-American activity: In concocting the subplot
concerning Bree and Rex's relationship, Cherry consulted with Steven
Culp (who plays Bree's husband) for ideas on what Rex's fetish might
be.
"I said no to his first six choices," Cherry said. "S&M was the
!ital!safe choice."
Carrie Fisher makes a love connection?: Fisher told Culp, "I want to
ask about the S&M." Culp replied, "We can talk about that later."

Stars grin and bare much more

TODAY'S celebrities flash 59 per cent of their body on the red carpet, a new
study has found.
Researchers have scanned through the years to see how much nudity has been
on show over the decades.
In the '90s, when Liz Hurley upped the ante in a safety-pin Versace creation
at the opening of Four Weddings And A Funeral, celebrities revealed an
average 39 per cent of skin.
Since then, stars such as British TV presenter and model Kelly Brook have
taken flashing the flesh to new heights.
In 2000, Brook shocked onlookers at the premiere of gangster movie Snatch by
wearing a Julien Macdonald two-piece, consisting of little more than
knickers and a backless, sideless dress.
Now experts have calculated the average percentage of nudity on show in
every decade since the 1950s, by selecting 10 iconic photographs from each
period.
They put the images together on a body template to calculate just how much
went uncovered.
For '50s stars such as Ava Gardner glamour was all the rage.
Researchers for the Odeon survey calculated that about 20 per cent of flesh
was on show and it was mostly the cleavage and upper arms.
Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot may have been '60s sexbombs, but the red
carpet look was modest and demure, according to researchers.
Screen legends tended to don full-length formal gowns, uncovering just 9 per
cent on the red carpet.
Stars such as Faye Dunaway and Carrie Fisher covered up in the '70s, with an
average 7 per cent on show, but in the '80s the figure crept up to 13 per
cent. PA

But Simon composed music and lyrics. Can anyone argue against the
theory that Carrie Fisher is outing her ex Bryan Lourd as gay instead
of her other ex Paul Simon because a "superagent" like Lourd can roll
with the punches? A sensitive artist doesn't deserve to?
Fisher had a highly publicized on-again off-again relationship with
Simon * before * she got involved with Lourd. On a 1994 Howard Stern
radio show a phone caller tried to out Paul Simon as gay, but Stern
objected not very strenuously and changed the subject.
How likely is it that Lourd was the first and only gay man in Carrie
Fisher's life? Maybe she's not telling the truth about him
forgetting to tell her he was gay. She writes another book and makes
money. She's also an ex cokehead.
Rot in hell, bitch.

I don't know. All I can add is a reliable source to back up the
theory that Bryan Lourd was NOT the first gay man with whom Carrie
Fisher fell in love.
This comes from the Washington Post Style Section August 13, 1987
bylined Stephanie Mansfield. (The Post and many of its faithful
readers on the power cocktail circuit admired her and believed the
dirt she found on actors and artists.)
Quote On
She [Carrie Fisher] went into therapy at the age of 15. All she ever
wanted was a normal life. She was appearing in a show on Broaddway,
her mother's [Debbie Reynolds] show "Irene," and found herself
attracted to every gay man in the chorus. Men she writes [in
Postcards From The Edge], who were perfect because "they rejected me
before they ever met me."
"I would just pine, you know? Great looking."

- This daughter of show-biz couple Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher appeared in stage productions with her mother before landing her first film job, as Warren Beatty's young seductress, in Hal Ashby's Shampoo (1975). Two years later, she appeared in her most widely recognized role, that of the feisty, outspoken Princess Leia in Star Wars a characterization she repeated in the sequels The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983). Since then, she has survived drug and alcohol dependency, a troubled marriage to singer-actor Paul Simon, and such cinematic flotsam as Under the Rainbow (1981) and Hollywood Vice Squad (1986) to become a lively, refreshingly cynical supporting actress in such comedies as EB> (both 1989), Sibling Rivalry (1990), and Soapdish (1991). She then revealed a hitherto unsuspected writing talent as the author of the semiautobiographical novel "Postcards from the Edge." Director Mike Nichols had her write the script for the 1990 film adaptation (with Shirley MacLaine in the role based, at least in part, on Fisher's mother). She followed it with other novels, "Surrender the Pink" and "Delusions of Grandma."
