See, I took it a different way : I thought she was being quirky and
funny about her liking Jack Nicholson. And I was shocked how dishonest
and unopen she was about her unrequited love for Al Pacino :)......I
like Diane Keaton alot but she was "acting" when she was talking about
Jack Nicholson. Her silence about Pacino said more about what's in her
heart than any words that came out of her mouth.
-
That would explain it because she paused and could not muster a thing
to say about Pacino. How sad, as Diane Keaton seems very delightful
and sweet even if she's a little quirky - she's quirky in a very
charming way. I was shocked at how open she was about her unrequited
love for Jack Nicholson.

Woody Allen's leading lady
ACTOR, AUTEUR BONDED IN U.K.
By Daniel FienbergZap2it.com
LOS ANGELES - There are certainly worse Hollywood career moves than becoming
Woody Allen's regular screen muse. But Scarlett Johansson -- star of Allen's
current film, ``Match Point,'' and his forthcoming comedy ``Scoop'' -- isn't
necessarily comfortable with the designation.
``I don't think that's true,'' Johansson responds quickly when the term
``muse'' gets thrown out. ``I don't know. I never asked Woody that. ``I
think that's kind of a nice little packaged thing that people can say when
you work with somebody more than once, but . . . I think that I definitely
inspired `Scoop,' just because he didn't know me beforehand and wasn't gonna
make that project, necessarily, last summer.''
I don't feel any responsibility to live up to that or anything.''
Being Allen's unofficial muse brought Diane Keaton an Oscar and sent three
Golden Globe nominations in Mia Farrow's direction, though both actresses
were romantically involved with the celebrated writer-director for part of
their professional relationships as well. It seems that Johansson and Allen
have a different kind of bond.
``We have a similar sense of humor and similar neuroses and we get along,''
she explains. ``We're both from New York. We make each other laugh a lot. .
. . , so I think that's why we wanted. I think we're both interested in
doing a comedy together, because we thought it would be just fun to shoot
and it gave me an opportunity to see Woody every day, which is great.''
In ``Match Point,'' Johansson plays Nola, an American actress in London,
whose relationship with an upwardly mobile tennis pro (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers)
becomes obsessive on both sides. The film, which has been earning rave
reviews since an out-of-competition screening at the Cannes Film Festival,
was Allen's first experience shooting entirely in Britain. The set didn't
produce a lot of ``New York vs. London'' arguments, though.
``Not really, other than saying, `God, I would love a really decent slice of
pizza,' '' Johansson says. ``We spoke about New York a lot just because we
obviously both live there and are from there. He's familiar with the school
I went to and all those things.''
, so we spoke about New York a lot, but not really comparing.''
She's still quick to note, ``They are very comparable cities. They're both
so cosmopolitan and very quick-paced and this crazy energy and both have a
fantastic nightlife there. It was great. It was great to be there.''
Earlier this month, Johansson snagged one of four Golden Globe nominations
for ``Match Point,'' and muse or no muse, she's obviously a fan of Allen's
methods.
``Woody's very hand's off hands-off,'' she says. ``I think he hires the
actors that respond to the material, and the reason why they respond is
because they feel capable that they can bring something with him. He's very
easy that way.'' He's not going to come in and spend an hour with you every

60 'damn exciting' for Diane Keaton
By KEVIN WILLIAMSON - Calgary Sun
PASADENA, Calif. - If the thought of Annie Hall turning 60 makes you groan
with age, imagine how Diane Keaton reacts when the subject of her
forthcoming birthday is broached by a journalist who uses the term
"milestone" to describe the event.
Or actually don't.
Because Keaton, who portrayed the object of Woody Allen's affections in that
1977 romantic comedy, appears nonplussed about the prospect of entering her
seventh decade on this planet.
In fact, she insists since she turned 30, each birthday has only improved
with time.
"At 30, I remember it was devastating. I was forgotten by my loved ones and
completely collapsed," says the actress who, it should be noted, keeps
tongue firmly planted in cheek during roundtable interviews to promote her
new dramedy, The Family Stone.
"Ever since that 30th birthday, it's been getting easier ... One thing,
though, is that in turning 60, I now realize how completely consumed by time
I am. Time is so darn precious. I want to do every single possible thing I
can."
She describes life now as "damn exciting ... I really feel like it just
makes you savour life more and more, as you go."
As for specifically what she'll be doing on her B-day in January, Keaton
doesn't know yet. "I'm terrified, actually, I don't know what to do. Maybe
I'll go to Monument Valley and go see the west," says Keaton, clad in her
signature hat and gloves.
One thing she won't be doing is looking for work. Despite the fact
Hollywood, land of Botox and skinscaping, rarely lets its rich and famous
residents age gracefully, Keaton, whose career spans The Godfather to
Something's Gotta Give, has several projects lined up for next year. None,
perplexingly though, involve Allen, who last cast Keaton in Manhattan Murder
Mystery nearly a decade ago. "It's shocking," she says, again with a teasing
lilt to her voice.
"I feel a little upset about that. Maybe (he'll call me) for my birthday."
Starting tomorrow, she anchors the aforementioned The Family Stone, an
ensemble comedy about a liberal family whose Christmas is spoiled by the
arrival of their eldest son's conservative, uptight girlfriend, Meredith
(Sarah Jessica Parker).
Despite a screenplay that attracted such stars as Rachel McAdams, Luke
Wilson, Craig T. Nelson and Claire Danes, the movie almost didn't
materialize. Several false starts, in fact, had plagued the production until
Keaton came aboard to portray the Stone clan's matriarch.
"You know how long this movie's been around? Forever. They couldn't quite
get it on. Then when I signed on, they gathered everybody because they
pretended they had a movie and they didn't. My belief about that whole thing
is that when people give you a and say, 'So-and-so's attached' it's
to make you think 'I better read it.' That's all it gets you -- a reading.
"But this was fantastic and frankly, I never thought the movie was
going to get on. I've been down that road a few times."
Naturally, while discussing The Family Stone, what with its idyllic family
setting, conversation gravitates to Keaton's own family -- and their plans
for the holidays.
"My father was consumed by the beach. Every week we'd drive out to the beach
and his dream in life was to have a house on the beach. And eventually he
did and he died so now every year we go to that house," she says.
"My mother's still alive so we all go and hang at the beach. Our way of
celebrating Christmas is being there."

Keaton and DeGeneres Plan Clothing Line
By WENN|Tuesday, December 13, 2005
Hollywood actress Diane Keaton has announced plans to launch a clothing line
with comedienne Ellen DeGeneres.
The stars, who both enjoy wearing trouser suits, have realized that they
share a passion for looking glamorous without flashing their flesh and they
want to use their similar tastes to start a business venture.
Keaton says, "I do want to go into business with (DeGeneres). I would like
to have a clothing line. I'm not kidding, I'm serious... I have a lot of
ideas... I'm into sports clothes."
DeGeneres adds, "There are a lot of women who don't always have to wear very
tight clothes... Whoever contacts us legitimately, we wanna do something
serious."

Keaton laughs off Reeves romance rumour
30/11/2005 - 10:12:47
Hollywood veteran Diane Keaton has laughed off reports she is dating her
Something's Gotta Give co-star Keanu Reeves.
The Annie Hall actress, 59, has been romantically linked to 41-year-old
Reeves since August.
Keaton says: "Those reports are some of the most hilarious I've read in my
life. I wish there was a link between Keanu and I, but I haven't seen him
since filming ended."
Meanwhile, single Keaton admits she is losing hope she will ever find love
again.
She says: "I have to be realistic. The chances of that now will be few and
far between. I love men, but I have to face facts."

Keaton: love is easier in the movies
NEW YORK (AP) - Diane Keaton dated many of her leading men off screen, but
she says she prefers to fall in love on screen.
"You know where it's going, and you can just enjoy it for what it is,"
Keaton tells Time magazine. "Real life is complicated. Onscreen you know
what the lines are. Everybody's doing what they're supposed to do. He's not
gonna surprise you."
The 59-year-old actress credits her listening skills in making relationships
with Woody Allen, Al Pacino and Warren Beatty work.
"I was a good listener. But then that wears off. They get bored," she says.
Keaton plays a mother in the upcoming The Family Stone, about a Manhattan
career woman (Sarah Jessica Parker) who gets a cold reception from her
fiance's family.
She's not surprised by the lack of sexy roles for women over 50 despite the
success of Something's Gotta Give, for which she was nominated for an Oscar.
"It requires somebody who's a good writer who wants to write about that
subject," she says. "Who is gonna do that? George Lucas? I don't think so.
I'd have to be an alien, a sexy, older alien."

Neither. He wanted her for Manhattan Murder Mystery, too, and wound up
getting Diane Keaton (another ex) to play the part originally intended for
Farrow (and of all his movies, that's the one I like least). At that
point, he probably still had Farrow in mind when he was writing his
screenplays.

October 16, 2005, 11:24:42 DIANE KEATON AMAZED WITH PREGNANT PHOTO
Actress DIANE KEATON loves photos of her as a young mum-to-be - even though
she has never been pregnant.
Technology allowed director TOM BEZUCHA (corr) to digitally transform a
photo Keaton gave him - taken of her in her 20s - for a pivotal moment in
her new film THE FAMILY STONE, and make it look as if she's pregnant.
The actress, who has two adopted children, was amazed with the end result -
but she still wishes the director could have used a better shot of her.
She says, "I gave Tom a bunch of photos of me when I was in my twenties. I
had a lot that I liked but I threw in that one in spite of the fact that I
didn't like it.
"I thought, 'Surely he'll use this other, more attractive shot.' He took
that goddamn shot and I hated that shot! I said, 'Tom, come on don't use
that photograph. Look at me, I'm such an ordinary woman.'
"They did doctor it up because I've never given birth to a child."
Keaton reveals she wept when she saw the photo in the film because it
reminded her of her late mother.
She adds, "It was the most amazing moment in any movie for me... When I saw
it all I could think of was my mother because she took the picture. It's
like a tribute to my mother."

KEATON MAKES TIDY PROFIT ON BEL-AIR HOME
Actress Diane Keaton has raked in a huge $11 million profit, after selling
off a home she renovated in Los Angeles' exclusive Bel-Air neighborhood.
After hosting a Los Angeles Conservancy benefit on the property in the
spring, preservationist Keaton got an offer she couldn't refuse, and sold it
off for close to $17.2 million -- after buying it for around $6 million in
2003.
Keaton collaborated with longtime designer pal Stephan Shadley on restoring
the property to full glory. When finished, the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom
house, which was recently featured in Architectural Digest, was full of
period details.
In 2000, Keaton made headlines when she sold her newly refurbished Beverly
Hills home to pop superstar Madonna for $6.5 million.

- Celebrity Gossip
- This gawky but attractive actress achieved her stardom by creating a most unlikely screen persona: a stuttering, often clumsy bundle of Me Generation eccentricities and urban neuroses. That screen character (elements of which still surface occasionally in her work) seems to owe a great deal to Keaton's former companion and mentor, Woody Allen. They met W_hen she was cast opposite him in his Broadway comedy "Play It Again, Sam." She subsequently costarred in the 1972 movie version of the show, and continued as Woody's leading lady in Sleeper (1973), Love and Death (1975), Manhattan (1979), and, most notably, Annie Hall (1977), for which she won the Best Actress Oscar. (She also starred in his first dramatic film, 1978's Interiors
Keaton began her show-business career in summer stock, eventually landing an understudy job on Broadway in the musical "Hair," in which she starred for most of 1968. She first became a familiar face on TV commercials, and made her film debut in Lovers and Other Strangers (1970). She then managed to hold her own among the powerhouse cast of Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather (1972), playing the wife of Mafia family scion Al Pacino, a role she reprised in the 1974 and 1990 sequels. Her quirky side got plenty of exposure in the Allen films and such trifles asEB>. For Now (1976) and Harry and Walter Go to New York (1976), but she proved her dramatic abilities in Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977), playing a sexually repressed Catholic schoolteacher whose later promiscuity leads to tragedy.
After appearing in Shoot the Moon (1982), the emotional domestic drama, Keaton costarred with then-lover Warren Beatty in his ambitious but financially unsuccessful Russian Revolution epic, Reds (also 1981 and Oscar-nominated as Best Actress), then took a brief sabbatical. Her return to the screen, in Mrs. Soffel (1984), was largely unheralded, and the mediocre box-office performance of The Little Drummer Girl (1984) failed to appreciably check her career's apparent decline.Crimes of the Heart (1986), an adaptation of Beth Henley's Pulitzer Prize-winning play about Southern sisters, forced her to compete for screen time with Jessica Lange and Sissy Spacek but proved to be a more satisfactory vehicle for her than previous outings. She cameoed as a nightclub singer in Woody Allen's Radio Days before starring in Baby Boom (both 1987) as a fast-track corporate shark whose life changes dramatically after she "inherits" a baby. The film was a popular success that restored the luster to Keaton's tarnished star, and reminded audiences of her considerable comic prowess. Unfortunately, her follow-up films-including The Good Mother (1988) and The Lemon Sisters (1990)-didn't sustain that momentum. In 1991 she fared better in the hit comedyFather of the Bride which saw her playing Steve Martin's wife in a placid, decorative manner most unusual for her. The following year she was well cast opposite Ed Harris in the political-themed romantic comedy Running Mates (1992, made for TV). She provided a canine voice-over for 1993's Look Who's Talking Now and played the title role in a 1994 TV movie, Amelia Earhart She first tried her hand behind-the-camera with an oddball quasidocumentary, Heaven (1987), and then piloted the well-received cable-TV drama Wildflower (1991). She directed an episode of "Twin Peaks," and earned an Emmy nomination as Best Director for an After School Special, "The Girl With the Crazy Brother" (1990).
- "I think that people who are famous tend to be underdeveloped in their humanity skills."
- Woody Allen said of her, "In real life, Keaton believes in God. But she also believes that the radio works because there are tiny people inside it."
- Was part of the Original Cast of the Broadway musical "Hair" (1968)
- Adopted a baby boy in 2001. Children are named Dexter and Duke.
- Diane Keaton is not related to Michael Keaton. Diane Keaton (birthname Diane Hall) changed her last name to her mother's maiden name as a result of a Diane Hall already being in the actors' guild. According to Diane Keaton, Michael Keaton had a similar problem with his natural name W_hen entering the actors' guild, though he picked "Keaton" because he liked Diane's name. --Diane Keaton, "Oprah" 2/4/2000
