It should be an unknown I think. If it has to be someone famous, then
Charlize looks the most like her in the face.
Hey how about that one actress...Greta Moll or something like that. She

NEW YORK - "Mean Girls" may have been the coming out party for
Lindsay Lohan, but considering Rachel McAdams' red-hot career, some
revisionist history may be in order.
McAdams, who portrayed the head of The Plastics (the hot girl high
school clique) in 2004's "Mean Girls," has emerged as 2005's most
talked-about young actress. In the recent hit comedy "Wedding
Crashers," she plays Owen Wilson's love interest.
The 28-year-old Canadian who grew up in St. Thomas, Ontario, has been
on the rise since the romantic film "The Notebook" last summer. She won
the MTV Movie Award for breakthrough female performance earlier this
year.
In the upcoming Wes Craven thriller "Red Eye," McAdams plays a woman
held hostage - on an airplane - by Cillian Murphy, a rising star
himself after "28 Days Later." Come fall, she'll appear in "The Family
Stone" with an ensemble cast including Diane Lane and Luke Wilson.
"The Family Stone" will give her another chance to try her manta: "If
you think it, the camera will see it."
___
AP: Do you feel like the spotlight on you is getting brighter?
McAdams: Well, I did the promotion for "Wedding Crashers" and now for
"Red Eye" and soon I'm going into promoting "The Family Stone" - I
guess I'm realizing that if you film for half a year, you're going to
do press for half a year. It seems like the appropriate amount of
exposure.
AP: Are you caught off-guard by the quickness of it?
McAdams: It feels very new. There's no training for this life. I think
Toronto (where she lives now) helps keep me grounded. I try to do other
things when I'm not working.
AP: Like what?
McAdams: I don't do a lot; I'm pretty domesticated. I've started doing
some gardening, but mostly it's just spending time with friends and
family.
AP: Do you feel any pull to move out to Los Angeles?
McAdams: In the beginning there was more of a push to move out there.
Now it just feels like Toronto is working for me and I'll stick with
that.
AP: Was there any particular actor or movie that inspired you to get
into movies?
McAdams: The first movie I ever saw was "Peter Pan." Actually going to
see it in the theater was so riveting.
AP: You've said you like to "physicalize" your performances - that
being in motion makes you forget yourself. But in "Red Eye" you're
stuck in an airplane seat for much of the movie.
McAdams: That was what I was so drawn to - being in a confined kind
of space and still have it dramatic. I just wanted to play with the
idea that if you think it, the camera will see it. The evolution that
happens in her life, I wanted to be able to express that without a lot
of dialogue. I was scared. (Laughs.) And I knew I would have that pay
off at the end where I could take off and be in motion.
AP: Did you ever think you'd be head-butted in a movie, or head-butt
someone yourself?
McAdams: I had hoped. I didn't realize it would come so soon. We did
stage combat at university and I was really shy and timid, but by the
end of a year of beating this glove, you can really get into it. It's
quite enjoyable. I have a background in figure skating, so any kind of
choreography doesn't come too hard.
AP: Were you claustrophobic shooting in a fake airplane all day?
McAdams: Yeah, it was incredibly claustrophobic. It wasn't as
disconcerting as I thought it was going to be, but at the same time, it
elevated the tension. I was literally stuck on the plane for 12 hours
every day. And the cameras are really close to your face and Cillian is
in really close proximity to me and I can't get away.
AP: What kind of s are you getting now? Do you notice any kind of
theme?
McAdams: There seems to be an overall theme to female roles in
Hollywood: a lot of obvious parts like the wife, or the girlfriend. I'm
trying to get away from that, which is why I loved Amy Stone (her
character in "The Family Stone"). It's a small part, a supporting role,
but it's so rich, not a typical character. So I'm just looking for any
good character - I don't care if they're attractive people or not.
AP: Is there an actor or actress whose career you'd like to emulate?
McAdams: There are so many women that I admire and have learned so much
from them - watching them work and the choices that they make. I
guess I want to carve out my own path. But I lovvvve Elizabeth Taylor.

LOS ANGELES - Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn caught the box-office
bouquet as their comedy "Wedding Crashers" pulled a switch with a $20.5
million weekend, becoming the No. 1 movie after two weekends in second
place.
Johnny Depp's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," the top movie the
previous two weekends, slipped to No. 2 with $16.4 million, according
to studio estimates Sunday.
The two holdovers fended off new wide releases whose fair to poor
debuts had Hollywood revenues sagging again as a box-office dry spell
continued.
Leading the newcomers was "Sky High," featuring Kurt Russell and Kelly
Preston in an action comedy set at a high school for superheroes that
debuted in third place with $14.6 million.
"Stealth," about Navy pilots ( Josh Lucas, Jessica Biel and Jamie
Foxx) taking on a rogue drone plane, crashed and burned, finishing at
No. 4 with $13.5 million. With an estimated $100 million production
budget, "Stealth" will prove a costly money-loser for distributor Sony.
The date flick "Must Love Dogs," a romance starring Diane Lane and John
Cusack, came in fifth with $13.05 million.
The top 12 movies took in $112.1 million, down a steep 21 percent from
the same weekend last year, when "The Village" led the box office with
a $50.7 million opening. For the year, movie attendance is down about
10 percent compared to 2004.
It was the second-straight weekend that new movies failed to dislodge
"Wedding Crashers" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
"Audiences are so desperate to find a film they like, they're just
hanging on to the same movies," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of
box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations.
"Wedding Crashers" lifted its domestic total to $116.1 million.
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" has taken in $148.1 million.
"Stealth," directed by Rob Cohen ("The Fast and the Furious"), was the
second-straight flick from an established action director to flop. "The
Island," from director Michael Bay ("Armageddon"), tanked a week
earlier.
"Action just doesn't seem to be what the public is buying this summer,"
said Rory Bruer, head of distribution for Sony, which released
"Stealth." "Comedy seems to be king."
"Wedding Crashers" has filled that bill, casting Wilson and Vaughn as
cads who intrude on strangers' weddings to pick up women. While the
box-office haul for many big movies falls 50 percent or more in
subsequent weekends, revenues for "Wedding Crashers" dipped only 20
percent this weekend.
Audiences looking to laugh also swarmed to "The Aristocrats," which had
a stellar debut in limited release, taking in $260,000 in just four New
York City and Los Angeles theaters. The documentary by comics Paul
Provenza and Penn Jillette features comedians discussing and telling a
classic filthy joke.
"The Aristocrats" expands to the top 15 markets on Aug. 12.
Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at North American
theaters, according to Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc. Final figures will
be released Monday.
1. "Wedding Crashers," $20.5 million.
2. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," $16.4 million.
3. "Sky High," $14.6 million.
4. "Stealth," $13.5 million.
5. "Must Love Dogs," $13.05 million.
6. "Fantastic Four," $6.8 million.
7. "The Island," $5.6 million.
8. "War of the Worlds," $5.44 million.
9. "Bad News Bears," $5.43 million.
10. "March of the Penguins," $4.2 million.

They are wonderful for those whose lives have progressed normally.
For those of us who are in our forties and still trying to find
fertile women to have children and marry, they are about as useless as
tits on a bull!
Messing with them is like what happened to the California Med-Fly
They brought in tens of thousands of sterile med flies and let them
mate with healthy one.
In a matter of months, the med fly problem was over. they all died.

MELBOURNE, Australia - Kylie Minogue's cancer treatment may force her
and boyfriend Olivier Martinez to postpone plans to have a baby, New
Idea magazine reported.
Minogue was recovering in her hometown of Melbourne after a cancerous
lump was successfully removed from her breast Friday. Doctors were
confident they had caught the disease early enough to prevent it from
spreading.
The Daily Telegraph newspaper in Sydney printed a photo Monday of the
singer wearing dark glasses and holding Martinez's hand as she left a
Melbourne hospital.
No details of her follow-up treatment have been released.
Martinez was quoted as saying the couple had been planning to have a
child.
"We were going to start working on it after the tour was over," the
French actor was quoted as telling New Idea magazine. "Now it will be
put off; not forever - we pray and hope - but for the time being."
Minogue, who will be 37 on Saturday, has called off a tour of Australia
and Asia.
A message posted on her Web site said the pop star "has friends and
family around her, and her spirits are high."
Olivier co-starred with Diane Lane in the 2002 film "Unfaithful."

I'd do any of 'em - or preferably ALL of 'em! Well, depending on
personality - and my guess is Diane Lane has the best personality of the
lot.

If Aubrey de Gray is correct, by 2030, someone who is fifty now will
have another fifty years of life remaining when they are eighty. And by
the time that fifty is up, nanotech will ensure indefinite lifespan.

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Ben Affleck, who once played a blind
superhero in "Daredevil," will play another superhero -- sort of.
The 32-year-old actor has signed on to star in "Truth, Justice and the
American Way," report news sources.
The Focus Features project centers on the 1950s "Adventures of
Superman" TV star George Reeves (Affleck) and his mysterious shooting
death in June 1959 that was deemed suicide, but some believe was
murder. Diane Lane will play Toni Mannix, a studio executive's wife who
might have been romantically involved with Reeves. Adrien Brody
co-stars as an investigator looking into the death.
The project, based on the by Paul Bernbaum, also examines
Reeves' mixed feelings about being typecast as the iconic Man of Steel.
Director Allen Coulter will begin shooting in the summer.
Affleck last starred opposite James Gandolfini in the lackluster
holiday comedy "Surviving Christmas." He next stars as a successful
Hollywood talent agent who's about to lose it all in "Man About Town."

Stars Praise Fahrenheit 9/11
Hollywood turned out in force to support Michael Moore at a special
screening of his controversial new documentary, Fahrenheit 9/11, on Tuesday.
Actors Martin Sheen, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Degeneres, David Duchovny,
Sharon Stone, Meg Ryan, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Jodie Foster, Drew
Barrymore, Chris Rock, Jack Black, Matthew Perry, Diane Lane, Marisa Tomei
and Viggo Mortensen all attended the showing at the Academy Of Motion

links between Bush's family and Osama Bin Laden's relatives.
At the screening of the Palme D'Or winning movie, Barrymore enthused, "I

"I'm looking forward to this more than anything in the world."
After a seeing a clip from the film featuring Britney Spears pledging her

I've always liked James Spader's looks. I also like George Clooney, especially

I think Raoul Bova who played Diane Lane's Italian lover in Under the Tuscan Sun is
very good looking, but he might be too pretty looking, too perfect to be attractive.

Where are all the real leading men?
While American leading men look like boys, those foreign imports are all men
You can have Tobey Maguire, we'll take Hugh Jackman.
COMMENTARY
By Tara Ariano
MSNBC CONTRIBUTOR
Nov. 11 - For discerning adult women (and adult gay men) who enjoy
developing pointless yet very serious crushes on good-looking celebrities,
today's wussy American pretty-boys just don't get the job done.
KIERAN CULKIN? Maybe we'll be interested when his voice changes. Chad
Michael Murray? He should probably finish high school before we pay any
attention to him. Even Keanu Reeves - who we realize is almost forty years
old - tried to convince us in "The Matrix Reloaded" that he was a grown-up
man, getting down with a grown-up lady, but he was so smooth and hairless
that he barely evinced any secondary sex characteristics.
In the U.S., such a premium is placed on youth - and so many media
products are targeted at the once-again suddenly hot 'tween market - that
grown-up ladies tend to have to look overseas for unattainable new objects
of lust. Fortunately, other countries are busily exporting plenty of rugged,
masculine beefcake to fill the vacuum, and to fill existing niches with
burlier alternatives.
1. COMIC-BOOK SUPERHERO
(MARVEL COMICS):
TOBEY MAGUIRE VS. HUGH JACKMAN
Admittedly, Spider-Man is not the most butch hero in the comic-book
pantheon; he's slight and sensitive - he's a photographer! His powers run
toward acrobatic moves that rely more on his whippet-like build than on
sheer strength. Still, playing the title role in last year's blockbuster
"Spider-Man," Tobey Maguire was very, very boyish - so boyish, in fact, that
he didn't even look like he would ever needed to shave even the least hint
of peach fuzz off his cheeks. (Maybe his Spidey mask was lined with some
kind of depilatory?)
At the other end of the Marvel spectrum is Australian Hugh Jackman,
who plays Wolverine in the "X-Men" movies - he of the gigantic muttonchops,
pointy hairdo, and foot-long metal claws. Jackman has wisely put together a
résumé guaranteed to attract a huge female following: soppy romantic
comedies ("Kate & Leopold," "Someone Like You") and girl-friendly actioners
that require him to wear a lot of tank tops, tight jeans, and hair (the
aforementioned "X-Men"). All this, and he sings (in Broadway's "The Boy From
Oz"). Tobey Maguire is still a little slip of a Wonder Boy, whereas Hugh
Jackman is all man.and has the remarkable body hair to prove it.
2. COMIC-BOOK SUPERHERO
(DC COMICS):
TOM WELLING VS. CHRISTIAN BALE
Since 2001, Tom Welling has played Clark Kent (a.k.a. Kal-El of
Krypton, a.k.a. Superman) in The WB teen drama "Smallville." As with Tobey
Maguire's Spider-Man, we meet this superhero when he's still in his
adolescence, trying out his disturbing new powers in a way we are meant to
think of as analogous to those that every pubescent boy discovers.if you
catch my drift. So, fine, Clark is still in high school; he is a boy. But
Tom Welling - a former model - is beyond boyish. His skin is so golden and
his lips so pouty that he's practically a girl.
On the other hand, we have Christian Bale, recently announced as the
newest big-screen Batman. The danger some child stars - as Bale once was -
face as grown-ups is that the audience won't be able to forget what they
looked like as kids. Bale wisely anticipated this possibility, and utterly
obliterated it with 2000's "American Psycho," which required him to be naked
a lot.and boyfriend was ripped. This commentator has never felt quite so
attracted to a chainsaw-wielding maniac. Bale will surely do as memorable a
job filling out Batman's cowl. And rubber nipples.
3. YOUNG MAN TEMPTING OLDER WOMAN:
JAKE GYLLENHAAL VS. OLIVIER MARTINEZ
The summer of 2002 was, it would seem, all about attractive younger
men seducing older, bored, married women. Or, maybe that was only happening
at the movies. Regardless, it was hot. One young American man in particular
had his hands full of pretty thirtysomethings: Jake Gyllenhaal. He got his
freak on with Jennifer Aniston in "The Good Girl," and got his freak partway
on with Catherine Keener in "Lovely & Amazing." In both films, Gyllenhaal
plays every older woman's fantasy of a younger lover: cute, eager, and a
little bit dumb. Oh - and, of course, so boyish-looking that you would be
forgiven for wondering if he has all his permanent teeth yet.
Earlier in the summer, audiences were electrified by "Unfaithful,"
in which Diane Lane meets a hot French guy who makes her forget all about
her husband, Richard Gere. Martinez's Paul may be younger than Lane - it's
part of his appeal - but that doesn't mean he's a downy-cheeked kid.
Martinez is so deliciously scruffy that he makes you think, "Yeah, what's
the big deal about marriage vows anyway?"
4. PERIOD-PIECE STAR:
LEONARDO DICAPRIO VS. RUSSELL CROWE
This is the only matchup where the American star is really gaining on
the import, because, seriously: What the hell happened to Russell Crowe? Has
the strain of hating everyone he works with prematurely aged him? Or is he
just packing on sympathy pounds now that his wife is pregnant? Whatever the
reason, the guy who was so macho and sexy in "L.A. Confidential" now looks
like a blond Meat Loaf. Between his Rubenesque new physique and the critical
mass of press he's received for being a thoroughly unpleasant person in real
life.well, he's just not as crush-worthy as he used to be. (Unless you like
really snarky people who make boring movies, and Vin Diesel is too cut for
your tastes.)
But now, take a second look at Leonardo DiCaprio. Yes, in "Catch Me
If You Can," we had a hard time believing the twenty-eight-year-old, playing
a sixteen-year-old, could convince anyone he was.well, twenty-eight. But he
looked perfectly delightful in his skinny '60s-era suits and pilot's
uniforms, and promises to acquit himself as well in "The Aviator," in which
he plays Howard Hughes. In fact, as long as he stays away from unconvincing
facial hair and stage-fighting - both of which were embarrassing on him in
"Gangs Of New York" - he'll have nothing to fear from Russell Crowe.

NY POST...SUSAN M KIRSCHBAUM
March 2, 2004 -- Diane Lane's curves, Holly Hunter's shoulders, Angelina
Jolie's decolletage - there was more than enough old-style Hollywood glamour to
go around at the Oscars, even among the former grunge and Goth set.
The post-Oscar buzz among fashion insiders was all about flawless image,
especially among those who've sinned before.
Among those in the cleaned-up-real-nice category were the formerly barefoot,
newly married Julia Roberts in flesh-toned Armani and former Goth gal Jolie in
a white Marc Bouwer halter gown plunging to a low V in front with diamonds
cascading down her cleavage.
With her hair pulled up and back to reveal stud earrings, she wore just enough
to titillate the crowd, even if it didn't quite hide her tattoo.
"Her dress was beautiful, but she was wearing nothing," said Michael Gallagher,
who collects and sells vintage fashion magazines. "I don't know what kept it
all up."
Fashion insiders also agree that Roberts has come of age. "She's become a real
woman," said Robert Verdi, stylist for "Full Frontal Fashion."
"She's grown into a fashion icon of beauty and good taste."
Mary Alice Stephenson, a fashion editor, agreed. "I was pleasantly surprised.
She seemed very at ease. This was definitely not some fashionista moment."
Naomi Watts, Jennifer Garner and Lane went for Audrey Hepburn style with
swept-up hair. Watts lit up the room in silver-beaded, flesh-toned Versace.
In her vintage, one-shoulder-bared Valentino, Garner looked like "Hollywood's
next sweetheart," said Cayli Cavaco, editor at Teen Vogue.
And Lane picked a slender white gown with silver circles by Loris Azzaro, the
vintage designer of the-moment.
"A dress like that would cost six to ten thousand," fashion historian Tiffany
Dubin tells The Post. "Diane was a thin creative goddess who took a vintage
leap."
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Julianne Moore and Hunter were lauded for their sexy,
flowing locks and sophistication. Hunter elegantly revealed shapely shoulders
in Vera Wang, while Moore's auburn hair barely skimmed her silver-beaded
Versace halter gown.
According to celebrity hair stylist Marc Garrison: "Her hair had volume in the
crown and the middle, a bit Goldie Hawnish but great." And Zeta-Jones va-voomed
in a fire-engine red Versace.
"She dared to wear red in a sea of muted colors and white," proclaimed
Montgomery Frazier, image guru.
Last but not least, Nicole Kidman conquered all in gray-blue strapless Chanel.
"Shockingly gorgeous," said Verdi.
With her "windswept" hair, he continued, she looked "like she left the
convertible top down."

Nicole Kidman

Naomi Watts

Hilary Swank
She could make boys and girls cry in this vintage Valentino. Most improved
since Saturday's Indie Spirit Awards.
Holly Hunter
Pink and poised huntress Holly chose Vera Wang.

In Marc Bouwer's dipping decolletage or the H. Stern diamonds, this vixen's
tempting.

By JOCELYN NOVECK, Associated Press Writer
"Life offers you a thousand chances," says the tagline for "Under the Tuscan
Sun," the new film based on Frances Mayes' bestseller about starting a new life
in Tuscany. "All you have to do is take one."
To some ears, that may sound a bit too romance novel-y, too movie-of-the-week.
And that's exactly what the film feels like some of the time, with a touch of
travelogue thrown in. Fortunately, it has one undeniable attribute, and it's a
big one: Diane Lane (news).
It would be hard not to fall under Lane's spell. Not just because she's
beautiful, though that certainly helps. But it seems this actress cannot strike
a false note. Whatever emotion she's living through registers itself on her
face so purely and simply that you just don't want the camera to leave her.
Which is a good thing for this film, because Lane is in almost every shot.
As for the rest of it, well, the scenery is beautiful and there are some
genuinely touching moments. But occasionally, it's just a little too pat,
nowhere more so than in the oops-let's-pull-it-all-together ending.
Frances Mayes, as many readers know, is a San Francisco-based writer who
decided, with her husband, to buy and renovate a 300-year-old villa in the
Tuscan town of Cortona — thereby living out the fantasy of many an armchair
traveler.
When Audrey Wells set out to write and direct the film version, she decided she
needed to add some dramatic tension. So in the film, Frances finds out her
husband has been cheating on her, then suffers a bitter divorce. When she hits
rock bottom, her friends offer her a trip to Italy as a salve for a broken
heart.
Wandering through the streets with her travelmates (turns out she's been booked
on a gay tour), she spies a villa for sale in a real estate agency window.
Minutes later, the bus happens to pass that very same villa. "Stop the bus!"
she shouts. Before you can say "impulse purchase," Frances has left the tour
and bought the house — without so much as glancing into the rooms. (In
reality, Mayes and her husband did a lot more research before settling on their
villa, "Bramasole.")
As the days go by, Frances melts into the community. She hires a ragtag group
of Polish builders to renovate her home. She makes friends with them, and with
her real estate agent — a kind man who'd be her lover if he weren't devoted
to his wife — and with her neighbors, and with Katherine (Lindsay Duncan), a
fiftyish British woman who wears flamboyant hats and lives on memories of once
working with Fellini. She starts to cook again — beautiful meals for her
friends and neighbors.
At this point, the cynical among us might think, wait — is it really possible
to buy a house in like, five minutes? Is absolutely everyone in Italy nice? And
where are all the smokers, anyway? No one seems to smoke here. But we digress.
What Frances desperately needs is some male companionship — and she finds it
in a dashingly handsome man she meets on the streets of Rome. The plot moves
swiftly from there, with Frances reaching the inevitable personal insights and
Wells tying it all together — a bit irksomely — at the last moment.
Quibbles aside, the film does show Tuscany in all its sun-drenched glory. And
Lane, so good in "Unfaithful" and now here, shows once again that she should be
getting as many big Hollywood roles as she wants. (A scene in which she exults
after a romp with her new lover is worth the price of admission alone.) If this
film were called "On a Dark Boring Street" rather than "Under the Tuscan Sun,"
Lane could still make it shine.
"Under the Tuscan Sun" is a Touchstone Pictures release. Rated PG-13 for sexual
content and language. Running time: 113 minutes. Rating: two and a half stars
out of four.

On the cover of Time at age 12.
Recently starred in "Unfaithful," a huge critical and box office hit.

If she's playing the lead in the movie, she's the star, and you want your
star to be comfortable and able to deliver her best work. It's just common
