I know somebody who got a piece of food caught in his throat, but didn't
want to make a fuss because he hates attracting attention. So he just sat
there quietly choking. Next thing he knew he woke up on the floor to find a
busboy holding some rosary beads over him and praying.

Stallone: 'I Didn't See Ellen Choke'
By WENN| Wednesday, March 22, 2006
HOLLYWOOD - Sylvester Stallone has defended his failure to rescue choking
actress Ellen Barkin in a Los Angeles restaurant earlier this
month--insisting he didn't realize she was in trouble.
The Big Easy star almost died from suffocation at the posh Sunset Tower
Hotel's Tower Bar, when Hollywood agent Kevin Huvane saved her with the
Heimlich maneuver.
But the action hero insists he was unaware of the desperate situation.
He says, "I had no idea Ellen was in the restaurant. If she was coughing or
dying, she was doing it politely. I would have been more than happy to reach
down her throat or squeeze her hard.
"Sat there dumbfounded? Please! I would have rallied round--just to avoid
paying the bill."

Stallone Fights To Get Roy Jones Jr. in the Ring
Sylvester Stallone is sparring with boxing champ Roy Jones Jr. because he
wants the fighter to sign up for his Rocky VI movie. The movie star wants
the heavyweight champ to play fictional champion Mason 'The Line' Dixon in
the film, which Stallone will write, direct and star in. Meanwhile, Stallone
has an initial title for his sixth Rocky film - Rocky Balboa. Shooting is
scheduled to begin in December in Los Angeles and Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, and the film is slated to be released next November. The movie
star insists Rocky fans will see a few familiar faces in the movie: "People
that were in the first movie, that you didn't think much about, are back -
really minor characters are now major characters."

LOS ANGELES - Yo Adrian! Rocky is planning another comeback. Fifteen
years after starring in "Rocky V," Sylvester Stallone is reprising his
role as the boxing champ in the sixth "Rocky" movie, publicist Michelle
Bega said Monday.
The 59-year-old actor will write and direct "Rocky Balboa," which will
begin shooting in Philadelphia and Las Vegas next year.
Stallone told the Daily Variety trade magazine the movie will focus on
an aging, widowed Rocky who is reluctant to get back in the ring but
ends up doing it "just to compete, not to win."
"I am drawing on a lot of my feelings that are in sync with many
people's feelings about facing the last chapter of their lives and how
they want it to be written," Stallone said.
Dan Taylor, president of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which is co-producing the
film, said the movie focuses less on boxing and more on character.
"It's about self-examination, an opportunity to see what kind of person
he is and act on it," Taylor said.
It wasn't immediately clear whether Talia Shire, who appeared in five
previous "Rocky" films as the boxer's love interest, Adrian, will
return in the sixth installment, said Stuart Herriot, a spokesman with
Revolution Studios, which is co-producing the film.
"In the , she did pass away, but it's unsure whether she might
appear in a flashback or in older footage," Herriot said. "It's too
early in the production to tell."
But, Herriot said, Burt Young is expected to return as Adrian's
brother, Paulie.
Stallone wrote all the "Rocky" films and directed the second, third and
fourth entries.
The first movie, released in 1976, won three Oscars, including best
picture and best director for John G. Avildsen.

School of Design. He was active in the burgeoning RISD arts scene,
where he formed the band the Fabulous Motels and then became a
newscaster under the name Charles Kennedy. He worked on newscasts in
Colorado Springs and Nashville before landing much more irreverent SNL
gig, where he also performed his own "Rocket Reports" skits.
Rocket appeared in feature films including "Earth Girls are Easy,"
"Dances with Wolves," "It's Pat" and "Dumb and Dumber." His last film
role was in the 2003 Sylvester Stallone film "Shade."
On TV, he appeared on shows including "Law & Order: Criminal Intent,"
"Cybill," "Touched by an Angel" and "thirtysomething."
Rocket played accordion in many bands, performing (with Debbie Harry
and Chris Stein of Blondie) on a tribute album to Fellini composer Nino
Rota.
He is survived by his wife, Beth and a son.

Oh, that's just wrong.

Bonana fanna fo fal-el, fee fy mo mal-el... Kal-el?
By Barry Gottlieb
The Los Angeles Times
October 8, 2005
Nicolas Cage became a father for the second time this week, and he
named his new son Kal-el. Yes, as in Superman's name when he was born
on Krypton.
Celebrities didn't always choose goofy names for their children. Robert
Alda named his son Alan, John Raitt called his daughter Bonnie and
Robert Downey took the easy path and named his son Robert, though to be
fair he did add a "Junior" to the end. But that's not the case anymore.
After Frank Zappa decided to name his kids Dweezil and Moon Unit, the
floodgates opened. Sylvester Stallone named his son Sage Moonblood. Not
to be outdone in the pseudo-Indian naming contest, John Mellencamp (who
should've known better because he once used the embarrassing stage name
"John Cougar") came up with Speck Wildhorse. Gee, what ever happened to
plain old Tonto?
Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth to Apple, Christie Brinkley chose Sailor and
Demi and Bruce take turns parenting Rumer Glenn, Scout LaRue and
Tallulah Belle.
It's possible that stars do this more than us mere mortals because they
want to make sure their children stand apart from mom or dad's
celebrity shadow, but is that any excuse to name your daughter Heavenly
Hiraani Tiger Lily, as the late singer Michael Hutchence did, or Fifi
Trixabelle, like Bob Geldof? At least those girls can sleep well
knowing they weren't named Tu, like actor Rob Morrow's daughter. You
know, as in Tu Morrow.
Actually, strange names are nothing new. Recently, officials at the
Cornwall Record Office in England searched through birth, death and
marriage records dating as far back as the 16th century and found
Abraham Thunderwolff, Freke Dorothy Fluck Lane, Philadelphia Bunnyface
and Offspring Gurney.
Suddenly the name Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily Hutchence doesn't sound
so bad.
But parents need to realize that the name they give a child has a big
effect on his or her life. Think about it. Presidents are named Bill,
George, Jimmy and Dick. I hate to be the one to break the news, but the
odds of seeing a President Fifi Trixabelle or a Prime Minister Apple in
our lifetime are about as good as George Clooney playing Laura in a
film version of "The Glass Menagerie." True, there's a Fortney and an
Alcee and an Edolphus running around Congress, but no one takes
Congress seriously.
But don't take my word for it. After hearing about Cage's temporary
insanity - well, it's temporary for him, anyway - 19-year-old actor
Shia LaBeouf came out and begged celebrities to stop giving their
children weird names. You know, like his. He says he was teased and got
into fights while growing up because of his strange name, which he says
means, roughly, "thank God for beef." Will celebrities listen to
LaBeouf and start naming their children Henry and Sarah instead of
Pilot Inspektor, as actor Jason Lee did, or Audio Science, as Shannyn
Sossamon brilliantly decided to do? Probably not.
With the announcement that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are expecting a
child, I think it's time to set up a baby naming pool for them. If it's
a boy they could go for Thomas Cruise Mapother V. (Yes, Tom is actually
the IVth.) If it's a girl, they could name her Kathleen after Katie's
mother. Why stop the family Kath-streak now? But they're a Hollywood
couple, so chances are the child will be named Finnbar Kal-el Apple
Tiger Lily L. Ron Hubbard Cruise. You can call it doomed, for short.
