Cuthbert Dating Hunter's Ex?
By WENN|Thursday, December 15, 2005
HOLLYWOOD - 24 beauty Elisha Cuthbert has fueled reports she has called
off her engagement to Trace Ayala, after being photographed snuggling up to
Canadian hockey ace Sean Avery.
Justin Timberlake's best friend and business partner Ayala proposed to
Cuthbert last year, but the pair hasn't been seen together for months, and
Cuthbert is no longer wearing her engagement ring.
In response to the rumors, Ayala said, "I love her to death, so whatever
happens, happens. We've both got so much going on right now."
However, Canadian Cuthbert, 23, has been seen cozying up to Los Angeles King
player Avery who dated Rachel Hunter earlier this year around Toronto in
recent weeks, according to local newspapers.

Elisha Cuthbert Refuses To Get Naked On Set

ELISHA CUTHBERT KEEPS HER CLOTHES ON
Actress ELISHA CUTHBERT has vowed to never go fully naked in a film, much to
the disappointment of her male fans.
The blonde beauty was able to witness the frustration of her fans when she
hid in the back of a cinema when GIRL NEXT DOOR - in which she plays a porn
star - was viewing.
She says, "I'll never be fully naked in a movie. I just don't feel
comfortable with it, secondly I think you can be a leading lady and not be
naked. You can still make a character believable without going there.
"I snuck into the back of the cinema when it was playing and during the
window scene, which pushed the envelope but didn't actually go there, I
remember some of the audience being really disappointed and going 'Awww...'"

Cuthbert Outdrunk by Hilton
Sexy actress Elisha Cuthbert struggled to keep up with her "House of Wax"
co-star Paris Hilton's hard drinking -- despite the hotel heiress' claims
she never drinks.
Hilton is regularly seen dancing on tables with her celebrity pals at
Hollywood parties, although she has always insisted she stays away from
drink and drugs.
Earlier this year, Hilton told British Glamour magazine, "I am not a party
person. I hate clubs. People think I drink when I'm out but I just have Red
Bull. I'll just dance and have fun. I don't do drugs."
However, Cuthbert has contradicted Hilton's claims, after declaring the
notorious party girl proved her excellent drinking skills in Australia, when
they made "House of Wax."
Cuthbert says, "We went out once or twice to go head-to-head on the shots. I
can drink, I can hold my liquor, but I think she beat me.
"I like a Jack Daniel's which I turned Paris on to. Before she was drinking
some turquoise thing. I said, 'Girl, if you're gonna drink, let's do the
whisky.'"

9 Kingdom of Heaven 1,328 -39% $2.2 $45.0
10 House of Wax 1,635 -50% $1.6 $29.9
Memorial Day Weekend launches the true start to the summer box office, and
what a weekend it was, with three blockbusters all vying for top spot at the
box office. There was some concern that the three films - The Longest Yard,
Madagascar and the second weekend of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith - might
cannibalize each other's potential receipts. That didn't happen, and each of
these films got off to fantastic starts. While the three films weren't able
to keep total box office ahead of last year, none flopped, so the coming
weekends may have a shot at beating last year's totals.
The number one film over the powerful Memorial Day weekend is Star Wars
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The George Lucas epic was not able to keep
up with the torrid pace it started with last weekend, but it was able to
hold onto the number one spot, grossing $70.8 million over the four-day
weekend, and $55.1 million over the three-day frame. At 3,663 venues this
weekend, the blockbuster scored a four-day average of $19,314, and dropped
35% compared to last weekend's three-day figure. It now sits at $271.2
million, well ahead of where Spider-Man sat after 12 days of release ($232.8
million), and only about $40 million behind where Attack of the Clones
finished ($302.2 million). Revenge of the Sith crossed the $200 million mark
last Thursday, its 8th day of release, tying Spider-Man for the quickest
film ever to make it to $200 million. Revenge of the Sith should also have
no problem reaching $300 million faster than record holder Shrek 2, which
reached that number in 18 days. Additionally, Sith is as big a hit overseas
as it is domestically, as its overseas total is already approaching $250
million, and the international take has already passed $500 million. 20th
Century Fox and LucasFilm have to be ecstatic about the gross so far. Next
week new releases Cinderella Man, Lords of Dogtown and The Sisterhood of
Travelling Pants roll out, so with little competition for its demographic,
Revenge of the Sith should have another strong frame next weekend.
In second spot this weekend is DreamWorks' Madagascar, which proves there
was enough room for both Star Wars and the animated blockbuster in a similar
demographic. Chris Rock's first of two films in the top three performed as
expected. It did much better than Shark Tale, but didn't find the success of
Shrek 2. Madagascar opened strong over the long weekend, grossing a powerful
$61 million from a very wide 4,131 venues (about 500 more than Revenge of
the Sith and The Longest Yard). It had a venue average of $14,766.
Madagascar built on its weekend nicely; after grossing $14 million on
Friday, the animated film increased its score on Saturday by 30%, pulling in
$18.1 million. Sunday's take dropped somewhat to $14.9 million, but there is
still good momentum for the Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett-Smith
feature. Buzz was hot heading into the long weekend, but it may have cooled
somewhat after its first four days. Reviews were not kind to the DreamWorks
product, of the 121 notices gathered at RottenTomatoes, a surprising 55 were
of the negative variety, leading to rotten score of 55% (Shrek 2 was 88%
fresh). Again, there is nothing much to get in the way of Madagascar over
the next few weeks until The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl on June
10, or when Herbie: Fully Loaded hits screens on June 22.
The number three film this weekend is The Longest Yard, but positioning may
change when actuals are released tomorrow. Adam Sandler's remake of the 1974
Burt Reynolds film grossed a more powerful than expected $60 million from
3,634 venues, leaving it only $1 million behind Madagascar. The take for
Yard equals a venue average of $16,510, and the three-day gross of about $48
million is Sandler's biggest opening weekend ever, ahead of Anger
Management's $42.2 million. The Memorial Day weekend had never been kind to
comedies until Bruce Almighty came along in 2003 and found $85.7 million,
doubling that of the last comedy, The Flintstones, to open on Memorial Day.
MTV Films, Paramount, Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison Films (Sandler's
production company) were behind The Longest Yard, and credit has to go the
film's marketing department. Awareness was huge for The Longest Yard, as the
producers used many TV sports shows to display their product. The movie was
unavoidable if you are a sports fan. Kasey Kahne's NASCAR racer had The
Longest Yard paint job on his car. The sports cast on your nightly local
news probably had a story. To top it all off, the producers cast Burt
Reynolds in a main roll to expand the demographic beyond Sandler and Chris
Rock's audience. Reviews were about as strong as expected. Of the 108
critics who saw the movie, only 36 gave it a thumbs up, leading to a
not-so-great rotten score of 33% (but its Sandler, so like that matters).
The Longest Yard is another film that should play well in the future, at
least for the next couple of weeks. For some reason, Hollywood organized
three dramas to start June, so expect another healthy weekend for The
Longest Yard in the next frame.
Fourth spot goes to the hideous Monster-in-Law with J.Lo and J.Fo, as the
New Line release grossed $11.1 million over the four-day Memorial Day frame.
Still at 3,230 venues, the comedy had a venue average of $3,428. So far, the
$40 million film has made an excellent $60.7 million, so expect to see more
Meet the Parents clones (and Jane Fonda movies) in the future.
If there was any strength in the holdovers, we might have had a
record-breaking weekend, but again the weakness of the last few frames rises
up and bites the box office in the ass once again. Fifth spot goes to Will
Ferrell's Kicking & Screaming, which has not held well versus the
blockbuster competition. Down 39% from last weekend's three-day frame,
Kicking & Screaming earned $6.6 million over the four-day, and now sits with
a disappointing domestic total at $44.2 million.
Sixth spot goes to Crash, which is still holding well after four weekends of
release, and is the lone bright spot in the lower rungs of the chart. Crash,
still very effective counter-programming, earned $6 million over the four
days, and was up 8% compared to last weekend's three-day frame, despite
shedding 225 venues. This movie was made for $6.5 million, and has now found
$36.1 million in box office receipts, making Crash a very good bet for the
folks at Lions Gate.
The Interpreter finished seventh in a close race this weekend, earning $2.6
million and down only 9% from last weekend's three-day frame. The $80
million Nicole Kidman/Sean Penn thriller has turned into a huge hit
overseas, earning as much abroad as it has domestically. The Interpreter
currently sits with a North American total of $69.2 million.
Unleashed manages to hold on to eighth this weekend, as the Jet Li action
flick quickly makes it way out of the top ten. The Rogue Pictures release
earned $2.3 million over the long weekend, down an ugly 43% from the
previous 3-day frame. After three weekends, Unleashed has earned a not-great
$21.9 million, after opening over $10 million. It had a budget of $45
million, however this one should do well overseas, and on DVD.
Kingdom of Heaven finishes an embarrassing ninth, and will most likely be
out of the top ten next weekend, after only 4 weeks of release. The $130
million film earned $2.2 million over the Memorial Day weekend, and now has
a soft domestic total of $45 million. Internationally Kingdom of Heaven is
very hot, earning well over $100 million already.
Tenth spot goes to horror film House of Wax, which stars Paris Hilton and
Elisha Cuthbert. Over the four-day frame, Wax earned a small $1.6 million,
and now sits with $29.9 million in domestic sales. Even with the extra day
this weekend, House of Wax was still down 50% compared to last weekend's
three-day gross. Ouch.
Overall this weekend, the top ten couldn't keep up with last year's record
breaking pace. The top ten for the Memorial Day weekend 2005 earned a very
good $224 million, but that was still off from last year's $237 million.
Things shouldn't change next weekend, as the post-Memorial Day frame in 2004
launched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban to $93.7 million, and 2005
brings the dry Cinderella Man.

Chad Michael Murray to finally get a break
By BRUCE KIRKLAND -- Toronto Sun
Chad Michael Murray and Elisha Cuthert in "House of Wax."
HOLLYWOOD -- Chad Michael Murray will likely get 2005's trooper-of-the-year
award.
The 23-year-old star of TV's One Tree Hill cut his honeymoon short to help
promote the slasher movie House of Wax.
Murray married his One Tree Hill co-star Sophia Bush on April 16. They
zipped off to a luxury resort in Santa Barbara for four days before
returning to L.A. so Murray could do four days of interviews.
Then he joined Bush, who was already back in Wilmington, N. C. where One
Tree Hill is filmed.
"We're going to have a second honeymoon over the three-week Christmas break
we get from filming One Tree Hill," says Murray, who insists they haven't
yet chosen a romantic destination.
He says it's a break he needs desperately.
"I haven't had a vacation in the two years since I started on One Tree Hill.
I've made movies when I'm not filming the series."
This work schedule took its toll recently when Murray "had a mini meltdown
in my trailer. I didn't think I could continue. I called my dad and he told
me I had no choice.
"I had commitments and I just had to figure out how to meet them all. My dad
instilled a really great work ethic in my brothers, sister and me."
Murray's mother abandoned the family when he was 10 years old.
On One Tree Hill, Murray plays Lucas Scott who discovers his basketball
rival is also his half-brother.
Murray side-steps questions about his romance with Bush, saying only "it's
all there on episode two of One Tree Hill," suggesting it was love at first
sight.
He says he wasn't "looking to be married to an actor, but just to be happy
in my personal life.
"It's a bonus that, with Sophia and I on the same show, I'll get to go to
work each day with my wife.
"I love acting and feel blessed to have such a solid career. Now I'm doubly
blessed to be in love and married."
In House of Wax, Murray plays Nick Jones, the bitter, rebellious twin of
Elisha Cuthbert's Carly Jones.
"There is not even a hint of Lucas Scott in Nick. That was why I jumped into
this project and I wanted to work with (producer) Joel Silver," says Murray.
That and he's a huge fan of horror.
"My favourite is the original black-and-white Night of the Living Dead.
"I also like most of the Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm
Street movies."
Murray has signed to star in the drama Stealing Cars, which he hopes to film
this summer.
"It's a bit like what would happen if Matt Damon's character in Good Will
Hunting was sent to prison. That's the character I play. It's a real
showcase for me and I'm helping to put it all together."

Hilton's movie debut panic attack
23/05/2005 - 14:50:28
Socialite Paris Hilton was so nervous filming her big screen debut in horror
film House Of Wax she had a panic attack.
The aspiring actress joined Elisha Cuthbert and Chad Michael Murray in
Queensland, Australia to film her small role as serial killer victim Paige
last year.
Hilton recalls: "Oh my God! I had a panic attack when we started shooting
House Of Wax. It was a night shoot and I was so nervous.
"Elisha calmed me down."
Despite her usual confidence, Hilton admits she was insecure about her body
as she stripped for a sexy scene.
She says: "I had to undress for one scene. I was like: 'I don't like my
body.'"

MISSION PROBABLY
Lindsay (The Third Olsen Twin) Lohan beat out Elisha Cuthbert for the
Hot Chick role in Mission Impossible 3 due out next year.
The already twice ruined Lohan, let the cat out of the bag in an
interview with KIIS FM radio in Los Angeles.
This will be too easy... Tom Cruise can't look at Lohan and say
Mission Impossible, or even Mission Unlikely, or Mission Maybe.
Lohan's violation by Tom Cruise us more like Mission Imminent.
My predictions are as follows:
1. Lohan will be the demise of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
2. Lohan will be introduced to Scientology and be quoted saying
something like "It's like really spiritual and stuff".
3. Cruise will miss sweet-love from a man and dump Lohan.
4. Lohan will rebound with someone like Mickey Rourke (or someone of
equal creepy-ness).
5. Lohan will turn to Kabbalah for a spiritual recovery from the
Scientology weirdness.
6. Kabbalah will get old and Lohan will appear in Playboy before her
butt gets big.

HOUSE OF WAX. With Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, Paris Hilton.
Director: Jaume Serra (1:45). R: Violence, sexuality, language.
It's a good thing Jaume Serra's "House of Wax" wasn't shot in 3-D like
the original 1953 horror classic - Paris Hilton is in it and she
doesn't have a third dimension.
(By the way, wasn't it fun watching Paris pose with her wax replica
this week at Madame Tussaud's? They could have had a contest: Guess the
live dummy and win a candle.)
To a roster of aptly named film characters like Amber, Heather, Sadie
and Barbie, Hilton adds Paige, a blond body-warmer brought along by her
boyfriend on an overnight trip with four other friends to a football
game in Louisiana.
A late-night detour sends the two-car caravan deep into the uncharted
woods, where, after a restless night spent downwind of a pile of dead
animals, they end up in a small town whose inhabitants are made of wax.
That is, just about all of them - the people worshiping in the chapel,
the people shopping in the stores, even the tail-wagging puppies in the
pet shop window.
The only living people are Bo and Vincent, once-conjoined twins who now
amuse themselves by snatching lost travelers, sealing them in wax and
adding them to the town's stationary populace.
A remake in title only, this "House of Wax" is mostly inspired by "The
Twilight Zone" and the "Friday the 13th" movies. Serra, a music-video
maker, made it a little slicker than most slasher pictures but, like
them, the only suspense is in wondering which of the six youths will
survive.
Even that is not much suspense. The , written by twins Chad and
Carey Hayes, is all about twins. Besides Bo and Vincent (both played by
Brian Van Holt), the travelers have their own fraternal set in Carly
(Elisha Cuthbert) and Nick (Chad Michael Murphy).
The best thing about "House of Wax" is the house. Inherited by Bo and
Vincent from their wax-sculptress mother, the museum is made of wax
from the ground up. When a basement fire starts to melt it, our heroes
look like they're running in quicksand.
The undemanding roles in the film are ably filled by everyone except
Hilton. For someone whose life is about posing for cameras, she looks
almost desperately uncomfortable. The only scene where she appears
natural is one where she strips to her bra and knickers and dances for
her boyfriend in the romantic glow of a kerosene lamp.
Maybe she didn't know the camera was running.

Remake can't hold a candle to Price's 'House of Wax'

Elisha Cuthbert walks right into a predictable trap in "House of Wax."
HOUSE OF WAX
There must be a rule that requires all actors under age 25 to be in a horror
film if they want to be a movie star. I know this is true because it's the
only explanation for why so many talented young actors, especially those
making the leap from TV to the big screen, feel they have to take parts in
awful horror flicks.
"House of Wax," a very loose remake of two previous horror films, stars
three up-and-coming actors - Clarence native Chad Michael Murray ("One Tree
Hill"), Elisha Cuthbert ("24") and Jared Padalecki ("Gilmore Girls") - who
are far better than this film. Co-star Paris Hilton, on the other hand, is
right where she belongs.
A group of friends, including twins Carly and Nick (Cuthbert and Murray) and
her boyfriend, Wade, are on their way to a football game when they stop for
the night and pitch tents. They drink, they smoke, they make out. Trees
rustle, a sickening smell fills the air and a mysterious truck silently
pulls into the field. It sits, silently menacing them until the bad boy of
the group (Murray) throws a rock and breaks a headlight (always a smart
move). The truck pulls away, but it won't be the last time we see it.
When one of the cars won't start the next morning because of a "busted" fan
belt, Carly and Wade head into "town" and the others drive off to the
football game.
The quiet town, home to Trudy's House of Wax, is creepy but that doesn't
scare these kids away. They finally find the guy who runs the gas station,
Bo (Brian Van Holt), and he has the perfect-size fan belt - at his house.
So, following the rule book for dumb teen horror movies, they go along like
lambs to the slaughter.
Bo is the handsome half of separated conjoined twins who were abused by
their wacko parents. (The abuse is shown in an unnecessary and disturbing
opening scene that is used to justify their murderous actions.) His deformed
brother, Vincent, is an excellent sculptor with a macabre obsession for hot
wax and live subjects.
The brothers separate Carly and Wade as the four friends drive back to town.
They'll all be targeted, one by one, until only the strong survive to fight
evil in one last showdown.
"House of Wax" could have been much better than it is. Its core idea - that
a demented genius could make a lifeless town appear alive - is fun horror
stuff. The wax sculptures are magnificent, especially in the actual House of
Wax, where everything - the walls, floors, tables, chairs and food - is
delicately carved from wax. And that fiery ending is terrifying as walls
melt and floors gain a quicksandlike consistency.
But this film doesn't live up to its horror potential. Instead, it's
gruesome with torture, mutilations and a decapitation. In the 1953 Vincent
Price version, an intended victim is shown minutes before wax will be poured
on to her. We see close-ups of her restrained feet and hands as she
struggles to get loose. Sure, that's tame by today's standards, but it's
still pretty darn scary.
For this 21st century version, tendons are slashed, lips are glued together
and body parts are hacked off. That's just repulsive.

Paris Hilton promotes movie in Toronto
Watch out, Hollywood! ... It's the new Meryl Streep
By LIZ BRAUN - Toronto Sun
Paris Hilton with Canuck co-star Elisha Cuthbert at MuchMusic. (Ernest
Doroszuk, SUN)
TORONTO - Paris Hilton has very beautiful teeth and flawless skin and in
person she is remarkably lifelike.
Hilton was in Toronto yesterday to promote House Of Wax, a remake of the
1953 horror outing that also stars Elisha Cuthbert, Jared Padalecki and Chad
Michael Murray.
The actor/producer/author/recording artist/model has jumped into movies big
time with House Of Wax, moving up from minor appearances in such films as
Raising Helen or The Cat In The Hat to a major role. Hilton said yesterday
in an interview that she wanted to be an actress all her life and knew it
would be a lot of work.
"I didn't know it was that much, though," she said about House Of Wax. "I
didn't realize we'd be doing night shots and filming, like, from 10 at night
until 9 the next morning. The movie all takes place at night."
What was particularly tough?
"Acting like you're scared is hard to do, and making it believable, and I
think I did a great job," she said. "Just learning how to believe what's
really going on, 'cause usually, when I used to act before, I would just say
things and not really believe what I was saying. But now I've learned."
Hilton is a role model for many young girls, and she seems to enjoy that.
"It's about being happy with yourself, being confident," she said. "Be a
good person and follow your dreams and you can do everything."
At 24, Hilton has already done almost everything. "I still have goals. I
want to have my own hotels," she said. "I want to keep on building this
empire. Because I love to work, I enjoy earning money and not having to ask
my family. To feel good, and proud of myself."
Is there any movie role she wouldn't take?
"I wouldn't be naked," she said. "And I wouldn't shave my head. Or gain a
million pounds."
Recently, Hilton and her Simple Life buddy, Nicole Richie, have had a public
split. They aren't friends any more. Hilton doesn't really talk about that,
but she will concede that friendship is tough in her business.
"I don't really have as many friends as I used to. I used to go out a lot,
and have all these fake friends who didn't really care about me. Spending so
many years doing that, you don't really get to meet anyone nice. And I
switched so many schools.
"The only real friends I have are, like, my family, my sister and my
boyfriend and a couple of other people. Because you can't really trust
anyone," she said, "especially in L.A."
In addition to her movie and TV career and her on-going success with the
book Confessions Of An Heiress, Hilton has a perfume, a line of jewelry,
Club Paris in Florida (and another Club Paris planned for Las Vegas), and is
working on a CD.
Although she claims she has no down time, she does have a personal life and
lives with Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis. "The most important thing is
family. I want to start a family within two or three years," she said.
But Paris and Paris -- in one household?
How do you know which Paris is wanted on the phone?
"I always say, 'Which one?' And my mom and dad call him Mr. Paris," she
said.
"And he just calls me Princess."

Paris' New Buddy On Show
Clearly we just can't get enough of Paris Hilton - so the model makers at
Madame Tussauds in New York have done us all a favour and made a replica of
our favourite socialite.
The fake version of Paris is frightening similar to the real one, so much
so, that even Paris must have had to look twice.
Along with the cast of her new (non filthy) film, The House Of Wax, Paris
turned up to the waxwork museum where they unveiled their latest addition.
24 Star Elisha Cuthbert and actor Chad Michael Murray let Paris take the
limelight for the day as the hotel heiress and reality TV star stood and
posed with her tracksuit-clad clone.
With recent revelations that Paris has fallen out with her Simple Life
co-star and former best buddy Nicole Richie, it'll be a relief to her to
know that if she gets lonely she can go and hang out with herself.
The wannabe actress has just admitted that at the age of 24 she is now
putting her partying days behind her so that she can concentrate on making
money.
The New York Times reports her as saying: "I'm glad I got the partying out
of my system when I was young because now I'm so over it and I can focus on
my career.
"Now I'm trying to build an empire. I don't want to be known as this Hilton
hotel girl my whole life. I want to make my own name."

Elisha Cuthbert turns scream queen
By LOUIS B. HOBSON -- Calgary Sun
IN DA HOUSE ... Calgary-born Elisha Cuthbert moves from TV's 24 to the
remake of House of Wax.
HOLLYWOOD -- In the slasher horror flick House of Wax, Elisha Cuthbert gets
to try her hand and vocal chords at being a big-screen scream queen.
In the movie, opening Friday, she plays Carly -- one of six young people
being stalked by a madman who intends to turn them into figurines in his
demonic wax museum.
There were times, especially last year, that Cuthbert, 22, wanted to scream
as loudly in real life.
Reports flooded the British press that Cuthbert was having an affair with
Justin Timberlake. There were even pictures of her leaving Timberlake's
London apartment on a weekend when his squeeze Cameron Diaz was filming one
of her exotic travel features.
"I have been dating Trace Ayala, Justin's personal assistant, for three
years. That's how the British press twists the most innocent things," says
Cuthbert, who now sports an engagement ring to show how serious that
relationship is.
"Trace proposed to me down in Australia when he came down to visit me while
I was filming House of Wax. It was a huge shock. I didn't see it coming.
Needless to say I cried," says Cuthbert who adds they took a mini-Australian
vacation to celebrate their engagement.
Cuthbert is a platinum blonde these days.
"I dyed it for a little independent film called The Quiet that I also
produced. I like the look so I'm keeping it for a while."
Cuthbert gained international fame playing Kiefer Sutherland's daughter
Kimberly Bauer for three seasons on the Fox real-time thriller 24.
"I wasn't devastated being written out of 24. It was what I needed to happen
for my career," insists Cuthbert.
"I'd had two incredible years learning how to be quick and think on my toes,
but I couldn't pursue a film career which was the whole reason I came to Los
Angeles."
Cuthbert began acting in film in Montreal when she was 12.
She was born in Calgary, spent her formative years in Vancouver and moved to
Montreal when she was 11. "The mother of a friend of mine is a casting
director. She talked me into getting some head shots, shopped them around
for me and I started getting work," says Cuthbert.
Her big break came in 1997 when she was chosen to host the TV show Popular
Mechanics for Kids.
"They auditioned 400 girls. It came down to two of us.
"Even though I flubbed all my lines at the final audition, they gave me the
job because the producer liked my look. I pretty much owe my career to that
show. I did it for three seasons."
When Cuthbert graduated from high school at age 17 she talked her parents
into letting her move to Los Angeles to pursue a film career.
Before getting cast in 24, she played Randy Quaid's daughter in the TV movie
Mail to the Chief, and had the lead in the TV drama Lucky Girl directed by
Canadian filmmaker John Fawcett.
Her post-24 films include Old School, Love Actually and the sex spoof The
Girl Next Door, in which she played the title character, a porn star trying
to end her career.
In House of Wax, Cuthbert shares screen time and screams with pop celebrity
Paris Hilton.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my apprehensions about Paris'
involvement in the film," says Cuthbert, who was the first to be cast in
this horror film from Joel Silver's Dark Castle Productions.
"I was relieved when Paris arrived in Australia and was so excited about
playing a character instead of just playing herself like she does on The
Simple Life.
"Paris really stepped up to the challenge of playing a real character. She
is our Drew Barrymore from Scream. She uses her celebrity to bring people to
the film and then surprises them with what she allows to happen to her."

The list will be predictable. It's always about whose career is hot at the
time, not about who is truly, breathtakingly beautiful. As such, Teri
Hatcher and Eva Longoria will make the list, simply because they have become
the two most visible female stars of Desperate Housewives; James Denton and
Jesse Metcalf will probably make the male side of the same list for the same
show. Add Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly, although Ian Somerhalder is,
asthetitcally speaking, better looking than Matthew Fox (Lilly, on the other
hand, could melt a cheese sandwich from across the room; she deserves her
spot on the list).
Females:
Bryce Dallas Howard ( I think she's stunning; you have to see her glossy
photos to really appreciate her off-beat beauty, as she was sort of plain in
The Village)
Kate Beckinsale
Halle Berry (a no brainer)
Elisha Cuthbert (finally begun to grow on me)
Jessica Biel (same as Cuthbert)
Portia DeRossi (I think she's hotter now than 7 years ago when she was on
Ally McBeal)
Denise Richards
Sophie Marceau
Vivian Leigh (eternally beautiful)
Michael Michele
Keira Knightly
Natalie Portman
Iman (best thing to ever come out of Somalia)
Sanaa Lathan
Angelina Jolie (the total package, but I don't like the tatoos)
Jennifer Lopez (can't stand her, but she's got it where it counts)
Scarlett Johannson
Males:
Josh Duhamel
Tom Brady
Owen Lafave (gotta give him a sympathy vote; poor guy)
Julian McMahon
Christian Bale
Chad Michael Murray (looked like a total jerk on the set of House of Wax,
based on what i've seen in MTV's behind-the-scenes documentary; argued,
screamed, yelled and pitched fits at the crew and director; i'm surprised,
really surprised, MTV was allowed to show that)

'Passion' Reclaims Top Box-Office Spot
'Passion of the Christ' Gets Easter Boost, Reclaims Top Box-Office Spot With
$17.1 Million
The Associated Press
LOS ANGELES April 12 - Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at
North American theaters, according to Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc. Final
figures will be released Monday.
1. "The Passion of the Christ," $17.1 million.
2. "Hellboy," $11.1 million.
3 (tie). "The Alamo," $9.2 million.
3 (tie). "Johnson Family Vacation," $9.2 million.
5. "Walking Tall," $8.3 million.
6. "Home on the Range," $8.2 million.
7. "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed," $8 million.
8. "The Whole Ten Yards," $6.7 million.
9. "Ella Enchanted," $6.1 million.
10. "The Girl Next Door," $6 million.
Many Christians made "The Passion of the Christ" a part of their Easter
weekend, lifting the crucifixion saga back to the top box-office spot with
$17.1 million.
Mel Gibson's bloody retelling of Christ's final hours raised its domestic
total since opening on Ash Wednesday to $354.8 million, passing "The Lord of
the Rings: The Two Towers" for the No. 8 spot on the all-time domestic
charts, just behind "Jurassic Park."
"The Passion" had been No. 1 its first three weekends, then fell back in the
pack for the next three before claiming the top spot again.
"That's unprecedented. I've never seen that before. 'The Passion' is just
rewriting box-office history," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of
box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations. "This is a holy day, and this movie
is tailor-made for a weekend like this. It's not just a movie. It's a
religious experience for many people."
"The Passion" easily fended off a rush of new movies. Disney's costly
historical epic "The Alamo" opened weakly with $9.2 million, tying for No. 3
with Cedric the Entertainer's comedy "Johnson Family Vacation," according to
studio estimates Sunday.
Other studios actually were tracking "Johnson Family Vacation" slightly
ahead of "The Alamo," which could finish in fourth place when final numbers
come out Monday. Making comparisons worse, "Johnson Family Vacation" put up
the same numbers while playing in only half as many theaters as "The Alamo."
Disney faces a big loss on "The Alamo," a chronicle of the 1830s last stand
whose budget swelled to about $100 million.
Starring Billy Bob Thornton as Davy Crockett and Dennis Quaid as Sam
Houston, "The Alamo" had been scheduled for release last December and caught
bad headlines after Disney delayed it for four months to give director John
Lee Hancock more time in the editing room. Hancock took over as director
after Ron Howard backed out.
"The Alamo" drew mixed reviews, with some critics calling it a historical
bore and others praising its authenticity and rousing battle sequences.
"We're disappointed, mostly because we think we made a really good film,"
said Chuck Viane, Disney's head of distribution. "I'm shocked, quite
honestly, at the number. If I could only figure out what went wrong, you'd
never let it happen again. The movie deserved better than it did."
Finishing ahead of "The Alamo" was the previous weekend's top movie,
"Hellboy," which came in at No. 2 with $11.1 million.
Three other new movies finished at the bottom of the top 10. "The Whole Ten
Yards," Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry's sequel to their hit-man comedy "The
Whole Nine Yards," premiered at No. 8 with $6.7 million, less than half the
$13.7 million the first movie did over opening weekend in February 2000.
Anne Hathaway's fairy-tale comedy "Ella Enchanted" opened ninth with $6.1
million. "The Girl Next Door," with Emile Hirsch as a youth who falls for an
ex-porn star (Elisha Cuthbert), debuted in 10th place with $6 million.
Despite so-so showings for new movies, the overall box office rose for the
seventh-straight weekend. The top 12 movies took in just under $100 million,
up 13 percent from the same weekend a year ago.
Newmarket Films, which distributed Gibson's "The Passion," had expected
Easter weekend to provide a solid bump for the film. Rob Schwartz, Newmarket
head of distribution, said "The Passion" is expected to finish with at least
$380 million and could top $400 million.

May I just say I am completely wholeheartedly against people, especially
women, getting MARRIED so dang young?!!!!! What is the need? What is the
rush? What is the point?! Just BE together for gosh sakes. You don't even
*know* who you are at 21. You may think you do, but we all change soooooooo
much thru our 20s, and into our 30s.... and to change alongside with
someone, and hope your grow together enough... Ack - whatever. A
Relationship/Marriage is such hard work. I'm just sick of people
romanticizing it so much and jumping into it, particularly women.
just my humble opinion.
