Hayden Hits Broadway -- For Four Minutes
"Star Wars" star Hayden Christensen made his Broadway debut Monday night
when he appeared briefly in a 10-minute play.
The Canadian actor took to the stage at the American Airlines Arena for a
four-minute performance in short play "This Is Now," as the son of a
cancer-stricken man who makes a pass at his ex-girlfriend.
Christensen was among the big name actors and actresses taking part in the
fifth annual "24 Hour Plays" benefit, which raises cash for nonprofit groups
in the Big Apple.
Other celebrities who participated in the six plays, which were performed
over a 24-hour period Monday, included "Showgirls" actress Elizabeth Berkley
and former Brat Packers Ally Sheedy and Andrew McCarthy.
The event raised over $100,000.

So long as *I* get to thank Ally Sheedy and Molly Ringwald that's just
fine.

LOS ANGELES - Could it be time to put more candles on the cake?
Molly Ringwald said she's in discussions to make a sequel to "Sixteen
Candles," the 1984 movie about the obstacles and embarrassments a teen
girl faces on her birthday.
The film, directed by John Hughes, shot Ringwald to teen stardom, but
she hasn't appeared in a major role in many years. She said she's been
appearing in theater, small TV and film parts and raising a daughter,
now 18 months old.
Ringwald, 37, said she had been approached repeatedly about doing a
sequel, but recently read a that she liked and wanted to star in
the movie.
"I've turned it down for years. I couldn't see how it would work," she
said. "Now, it seems right."
Ringwald was reunited at the MTV Movie Awards on Saturday with
Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy and Paul Gleason, three of her
co-stars in 1985's "The Breakfast Club," directed by John Hughes.
Judd Nelson and Emilio Estevez didn't show.
"They're in Africa with Dave Chappelle," Hall joked.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Bittersweet movies about teenagers' quests to
be cool reigned at the MTV Movie Awards on Saturday, with high school
comedies "Napoleon Dynamite" and "Mean Girls" picking up many of the
event's quirky awards.
The show, which thumbed its nose at more high-brow awards' programs
with dirty jokes and shameless plugs for Hollywood's upcoming summer
blockbusters, also featured a 20th anniversary tribute to the 1985 teen
drama "The Breakfast Club."
"Breakfast Club" stars Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, and Anthony
Michael Hall were all on hand to receive the award -- an oversized
bucket of silver popcorn.
"It's pretty amazing to do a movie that's lasted for so long," Ringwald
told Reuters as she arrived at the show. "I'm really proud."
The night's other big moment was Tom Cruise's acceptance of a lifetime
achievement award -- presented to him by his new girlfriend, Katie
Holmes.
The top award went to "Napoleon Dynamite," a low-budget flick about a
socially awkward teenager in rural Idaho. The film also picked up two
other awards, which come in the form of buckets of golden popcorn.
"Mean Girls," a comedy about a clique of popular but nasty girls, also
picked up three awards, including best female performance for its star,
Lindsay Lohan.
Lohan, whose Mercedes was hit by a photographer this week after a chase
through the streets of Los Angeles, told the audience to "be careful of
the paparazzi."
The show also featured its usual dose of irreverence, including a stunt
in which host Jimmy Fallon grabbed actress Sandra Bullock's breasts.
Dustin Hoffman, who picked up the award for best comedic performance
for his role in "Meet the Fockers," also contributed one of the show's
racier moments, which he said was inspired by rapper Eminem's
performance earlier in the show.
"I noticed Eminem... he touched himself about 37 times," Hoffman said,
then repeatedly touched his groin while listing those he wanted to
thank for his award.
Best on-screen kiss went to Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling for "The
Notebook." To accept their award, the pair reenacted the steamy kiss,
with McAdams doing a running jump across the stage into Gosling's arms.
"Do we really need to say anything?" McAdams said at the podium
following the stunt.
The show also featured musical performances by both Mariah Carey and
the Foo Fighters, who replaced rock band Nine Inch Nails at the last
minute after MTV questioned the band's plans to perform in front of an
image of President Bush.
The 2005 MTV Movie Awards airs June 9.

I know it would probably suck if it actualy came out, but I'll say it
anyway: it would be cool if they'd set a Breakfast Club sequel at their
20th high school reunion. The whole cast is still in the biz but not
really doing so well they'd be above such a project...
In the right hands (Ryan Murphy?) it could be cool.

NEW YORK - Don't you forget about "The Breakfast Club." At the 2005 MTV
Movie Awards, to air June 9, the network plans to reunite the cast of
the classic '80s movie, the cable channel said Friday.
Though Emilio Estevez, who played Andrew Clark, isn't confirmed, in
attendance will be Molly Ringwald (Claire Standish), Ally Sheedy
(Allison Reynolds), Anthony Michael Hall (Brian Johnson) and Judd
Nelson (John Bender).
The 1985 film was directed by John Hughes, who had a string of hit
films starring young people during the decade, among them "Sixteen
Candles," "Weird Science," "Pretty in Pink" and "Ferris Bueller's Day
Off."
Yellowcard will perform the film's theme song, "Don't You Forget About
Me," from the 1985 film. The song was originally recorded by Simple
Minds.
This year's awards will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon. To be taped June 4
at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the show's scheduled
performers include Mariah Carey, Eminem and Nine Inch Nails.
A Brat Packer made good, this spunky, attractive actress debuted as Sean Penn's girlfriend in Bad Boys (1983), was paired with Matthew Broderick in the hit WarGames that same year, and won major attention as the morbid nonconformist in The Breakfast Club (1985), before doing postgraduate work in the brat-pack-faces-life saga St. Elmo's Fire (1985). But her unpredictably uneven performances-ranging from vacuous Valley-speak renditions in Short Circuit and Blue City (both 1986) to endearing comic turns in Maid to Order (1987) and Betsy's Wedding (1990)-have kept critics on guard. The precocious Sheedy wrote a children's book at age 12 and published a more recent collection of confessional poetry. Other credits include Oxford Blues (1984), Twice in a Lifetime (1985), Heart of Dixie (1989), Only the Lonely (1991), Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992, a cameo) Chantilly Lace (1993 telefilm), The Pickle (1993, a cameo), and Man's Best Friend (also 1993).
The addiction treatment Sheedy received was for sleeping pills. This helped her choose to participate in the film High Art (1998), in which she played a once-famous photographer who had also descended into drug addiction.
Turned down the Kelly McGillis role in Top Gun (1986).
Dated Woody Harrelson.
Dated Eric Stoltz for five years.
Auditioned for the Molly Ringwald role in Sixteen Candles (1984).
Turned down the lead role in Wild Orchid (1990).
Dated 'Richie Sambora'.
Her mother is Charlotte Sheedy, a prominent New York literary agent.
Treated for addiction to prescription medication.
Daughter, Rebecca born. [1994]
Is the eldest of three children born to an advertising executive dad and a literary agent mom.
Auditioned for the movie League of Their Own, A (1992) but didn't get the role because she couldn't play baseball well enough.
