Like Callista, Holly Hunter is another endomorph and has a naturally
slight frame.
Lindsay lost weight because her party animal habits ran out of control,
but she's tacitly admitted her problem to the public and stopped doing
it.
Although not chubby per se, as a teen Ricci had enough weight to bury
her figure. She had to do something to bring out the curves and paid
the price for it.
Starlets should lose weight under the care of a doctor, not by
themselves.

I really don't know, but there must be something pretty dynamic
in the whole experience of pregnancy and childbirth. That's probably
more the issue here than passing on the genes.
Also, Hunter was pregnant a few years ago, but something happened. It
was never announced what exactly happened but there isn't a child to
show for it. Perhaps she is ecstatic that she has a healthy pregnancy
this time around, in which case I'm thrilled for her.

I hope her pregnancy and child turn out better than Wendy
Wasserstein's, who also insisted on having her first child when she was
well into her forties. Isn't Holly very tiny? I'm surprised she can

HOLLY HUNTER PREGNANT WITH TWINS
Oscar-winning actress Holly Hunter is expecting twins with actor boyfriend
Gordon MacDonald.
They will be the first children for the 47-year-old actress and MacDonald --
her co-star in the London stage production of Irish play "By the Bog of
Cats," which ran until February.
Hunter -- who was married to cinematographer Janus Kaminiski from 1995 to
2001 -- has a large family to live up to -- she herself is the youngest of
seven children
I have read that some actors do have intercourse to make the scenes
realistic. I have seen about four (non porno) movies where it sure seemed
to me there wasn't anything simulated going one. Specifically movies with
Angelina Jolie, Julianne Moore, Holly Hunter, and Meg Ryan. If they were
not, they might as well have been. I doubt you would see any admittance or
denial.

Oscar race preview: Supporting Actor
By LOUIS B. HOBSON - Calgary Sun
The double acting nod Jamie Foxx received for this year's 77th Academy
Awards makes him only the third performer in Oscar history to be nominated
as both best-supporting actor and best actor.
Foxx, 37, who is nominated in the best supporting category for Collateral
and best actor category for Ray joins Barry Fitzgerald, who scored the first
double nomination in 1944 for the same role and Al Pacino in 1992. Seven
actresses have also scored this honour, including Sigourney Weaver (1988),
Jessica Lange (1982), Holly Hunter (1993), Emma Thompson (1993) and Julianne
Moore (2002).
Should he actually win two acting Oscars this year, Foxx would make Oscar
history but -- as with past double nominees -- that's not going to happen.
He'll likely take home the Oscar for best actor which is ironic because his
stint in Collateral as the taxi driver who must outwit the assassin (Tom
Cruise) who has hired him is the better of the two performances.
Alan Alda's nomination as the corrupt senator in The Aviator marks the first
time he has been recognized by the Academy in a career that spans 50 years.
Since its inception in 1936, the best supporting actor Oscar has been a way
of acknowledging the work of seasoned veterans such as Melvyn Douglas, Jason
Robards, Jack Palance, Martin Landau, George Burns and John Gielgud. Alda,
69, won't win this year, but he will receive a good number of votes from
academy members who are his contemporaries.
He would have had a much better chance had he not been up against Morgan
Freeman, 67, who is long overdue for Oscar glory. As the former boxer In
Million Dollar Baby whose career was cut short by a blinding blow, Freeman
defines understated acting.
He is the only actor in this category with past Oscar recognition, having
garnered a best supporting nomination in 1987 for Street Smart and best
actor nominations for Driving Miss Daisy in 1989 and The Shawshank
Redemption in 1994. It's going to be practically impossible for Academy
voters to snub Freeman. That means he's going to edge out Clive Owen, 40,
the only non-American in the category and the most worthy.
In Closer, Owen gives a mesmerizing performance that confirms he can shine
given material equal to his towering talents.
Thomas Haden Church's nomination for the errant groom in Sideways makes for
a great comeback story but not an Oscar. Sideways won't get Haden Church an
Oscar but it will open doors that have long been closed to this personable
country boy.
WILL WIN: Morgan Freeman in Million Dollar Baby
* As a struggling actor Morgan Freeman, left, starred on the children's TV
show The Electric Company. He had stints on the soaps Ryan's Hope and
Another World before wowing audiences and critics alike with his performance
as a pimp in 1987's Street Smart.
* Freeman has already filmed Long Walk to Freedom, Unleashed and An
Unfinished Life and will be seen as Lucius Fox in Batman Begins.
SHOULD WIN: Clive Owen for Closer
Before making an international smash in 1998 as the writer moonlighting as a
casino dealer in Croupier, Clive Owen spent a decade as a staple in British
TV. He has already completed roles in Sin City and Derailed. He continues to
deny rumours that he is being considered for or has considered being the
next James Bond.
The other nominees ...
A true chameleon actor, Jamie Foxx began his career on TV's In Living Color
and within two years had his own show The Jamie Foxx Show. Tom Cruise chose
him to play the cabbie in Collateral.
After success on TV's Wings and Ned and Stacey, Thomas Haden Church had
virtually retired to his ranch until Alexander Payne tracked him down for
Sideways.
This may be Alan Alda's first Oscar nomination but he has a host of Emmys
for writing, directing and starring in M*A*S*H. Currently starring as
Senator Arnold Vinick on TV's The West Wing, Alda does not have another film
project.

Friends star to make West End debut
24/02/2005 - 13:46:49
Friends star David Schwimmer is set to appear on the London stage for the
first time.
The actor is to make his West End debut with the lead role in a new play
Some Girls.
Unlike unlucky-in-love Ross, Schwimmer's character in Friends, the
38-year-old's latest incarnation is a womaniser.
The star will arrive in London in April to prepare for May's opening at the
Gielgud Theatre.
The play sees Schwimmer's emotionally-crippled character decide to get
engaged, but only after paying a visit to four ex-girlfriends.
The work, by acclaimed playwright Neil LaBute, runs for 13 weeks.
Schwimmer, who has been directing his Friends co-star Matt LeBlanc in his
solo TV show Joey, said: "I've always dreamed of doing a play in London."
He told London's Evening Standard newspaper: "It's about relationships and
the choices people make, learning to live with those choices, and recovering
from the damage done when those choices go wrong."
Other Hollywood stars to have embraced the London stage recently include
Kevin Spacey, Holly Hunter, Christian Slater and Sex and the City's Kim
Cattrall.
Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kathleen Turner, Matt Damon, Friends star
Matthew Perry and even Madonna have also appeared in the West End in the
past few years.
Some Girls opens at the Gielgud Theatre on May 12.

NY POST...SUSAN M KIRSCHBAUM
March 2, 2004 -- Diane Lane's curves, Holly Hunter's shoulders, Angelina
Jolie's decolletage - there was more than enough old-style Hollywood glamour to
go around at the Oscars, even among the former grunge and Goth set.
The post-Oscar buzz among fashion insiders was all about flawless image,
especially among those who've sinned before.
Among those in the cleaned-up-real-nice category were the formerly barefoot,
newly married Julia Roberts in flesh-toned Armani and former Goth gal Jolie in
a white Marc Bouwer halter gown plunging to a low V in front with diamonds
cascading down her cleavage.
With her hair pulled up and back to reveal stud earrings, she wore just enough
to titillate the crowd, even if it didn't quite hide her tattoo.
"Her dress was beautiful, but she was wearing nothing," said Michael Gallagher,
who collects and sells vintage fashion magazines. "I don't know what kept it
all up."
Fashion insiders also agree that Roberts has come of age. "She's become a real
woman," said Robert Verdi, stylist for "Full Frontal Fashion."
"She's grown into a fashion icon of beauty and good taste."
Mary Alice Stephenson, a fashion editor, agreed. "I was pleasantly surprised.
She seemed very at ease. This was definitely not some fashionista moment."
Naomi Watts, Jennifer Garner and Lane went for Audrey Hepburn style with
swept-up hair. Watts lit up the room in silver-beaded, flesh-toned Versace.
In her vintage, one-shoulder-bared Valentino, Garner looked like "Hollywood's
next sweetheart," said Cayli Cavaco, editor at Teen Vogue.
And Lane picked a slender white gown with silver circles by Loris Azzaro, the
vintage designer of the-moment.
"A dress like that would cost six to ten thousand," fashion historian Tiffany
Dubin tells The Post. "Diane was a thin creative goddess who took a vintage
leap."
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Julianne Moore and Hunter were lauded for their sexy,
flowing locks and sophistication. Hunter elegantly revealed shapely shoulders
in Vera Wang, while Moore's auburn hair barely skimmed her silver-beaded
Versace halter gown.
According to celebrity hair stylist Marc Garrison: "Her hair had volume in the
crown and the middle, a bit Goldie Hawnish but great." And Zeta-Jones va-voomed
in a fire-engine red Versace.
"She dared to wear red in a sea of muted colors and white," proclaimed
Montgomery Frazier, image guru.
Last but not least, Nicole Kidman conquered all in gray-blue strapless Chanel.
"Shockingly gorgeous," said Verdi.
With her "windswept" hair, he continued, she looked "like she left the
convertible top down."
Julia Roberts
The pretty woman becomes her own Oscar statuette in glorious bronze Armani.
Jennifer Garner
No alias needed as she vamps in tangerine vintage Valentino and clutches a
Fendi bag.
Diane Lane
As if her own curves weren't enough, she encircles her cleavage, courtesy of
vintage Loris Azzaro.
Nicole Kidman
She turned heads in turn-of-the-century Chanel, a Bulgari green diamond
necklace at her throat.
Naomi Watts
The Aussi princess brilliantly emerged from the land down under in Versace.
Hilary Swank
She could make boys and girls cry in this vintage Valentino. Most improved
since Saturday's Indie Spirit Awards.
Holly Hunter
Pink and poised huntress Holly chose Vera Wang.
Angelina Jolie
In Marc Bouwer's dipping decolletage or the H. Stern diamonds, this vixen's
tempting.
Shohreh Aghdashloo
Shohreh Aghdashloo hints I'm a lady in Simin while carrying a Bernard Jacobs
bag.
Julianne Moore
The auburn stunner looks so good, she's laughing in this silver peek-a-boo
Versace.
Paquin's a Canadian, and a busy one, too
I've always thought Anna Paquin, the young actress who won an Oscar for The
Piano, was Australian, but a friend insists she's Canadian. Who's right?
Paquin was born in Winnipeg, Canada, the daughter of a Canadian father and a
Kiwi (not Australian) mother. The family emigrated to New Zealand when Anna
was 4, and there, six years later, she was chosen from hundreds of
contenders to play Holly Hunter's daughter in The Piano, becoming at age 11
one of the youngest performers ever to win an Oscar (Tatum O'Neal remains
the youngest, at 10). Now a poised and pretty 21, Paquin lives in Los
Angeles with her mother (her parents divorced seven years ago), but also
maintains an apartment in New York, where she is studying at Columbia
University.
Apart from The Piano, Paquin's best-known roles are as the mutant Rogue in
the first two X-Men movies, a role she will repeat in X-Men 3, scheduled for
release in May 2006. Sometime this year, she will also be seen in a horror
flick titled The Darkness, in which she co-stars with Lena Olin.

Give 'em the old razzle dazzle
February 23, 2004 - 11:23AM
Watch and wear ... all eyes will be on Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron
this year, whereas quite a few were on Bjork and that swan dress a few years
back.
Expect the old razzle dazzle to be back at the Oscars in a week's time,
after two years of toning it down for war and terrorism.
Stars plan to be out in full Hollywood regalia for the 76th Academy Awards,
unlike the last two years when war in Iraq and the September 11 attacks
dampened the mood of the country and made "red carpet" dressing -- the
world's most-watched fashion event -- a less than dazzling affair.
This year the red carpet, the long path from the sidewalk to the Kodak
Theatre, will burst with brightly colored couture gowns, brighter smiles and
bigger hair, stylists and organizers said.
"Because of the red carpet being rolled up last year, we should expect
all-out glamour this year," said Patty Fox, author of "Star Style at the
Academy Awards" and official Academy Awards fashion coordinator.
"I think we're going to see a lot of colors and chiffons and very flowy
goddess dresses because it's springtime and because last year was sort of a
subdued year," said celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch, who dresses the likes
of Halle Berry, Jim Carrey and Pierce Brosnan.
"I think glamour is going to be one notch higher. ... I expect the Oscars to
be a feast of glamour," said Enzo Angileri, a hairstylist who will design
Oscar looks for nominees Charlize Theron and Holly Hunter and for Lucy Liu.
TV viewers should expect million-dollar outfits on this year's nominees and
presenters. Couture, six-figure gowns are routinely lent gratis for the day
by the world's top designers because they know that a single photo of a
movie star in one of their creations eclipses all other runway exposure
combined.
Among the prominent designers whose works will likely make their way to the
red carpet are Dolce and Gabbana, Bill Blass, Vera Wang, Armani, Christian
Dior and Prada.
The Hollywood hype notwithstanding, Tinseltown is keeping some things
secret. Stylists never tell ahead of time what they know about stars'
outfits. And in most cases the stars themselves, who are normally presented
with several choices, don't decide until the last minute what they will
wear.
"I'm completely in the dark as to what we're going to do," said Angileri of
his upcoming collaboration with Theron, who is nominated for best actress in
Monster.
"It will be glamour but in a simple way. Charlize is tall and looks good
with things not too ... complicated. But it's still time for thinking now,"
Angileri said.
Unlike supermodels who serve as blank canvases for designers' whims, the
stars consider themselves to be the trendsetters. So it is wrong to assume
they will mimic the latest catwalk trends.
Their aim is to create signature looks that will firmly root them in the
public consciousness and hopefully be copied. Think of Diane Keaton,
nominated for best actress this year for Something's Gotta Give.
In 1977 Keaton arrived at the Oscars wearing men's-style clothing, the look
she popularized in the film Annie Hall, for which she took home an Oscar.
The look also took the world by storm after she was seen wearing it.
"The stars set the trends on the red carpet," Fox said. "So many designers
actually watch the telecasts and try to pick up (their) trends and they're
sketching the next day so they can get those designs into production."
Stars, for the most part, also try to avoid making a fashion faux pas
because the images could float on the Internet for years. Think of Bjork's
"swan" dress in 2001.
This year insiders were speculating that Nicole Kidman, who received less
than stellar reviews for the coin-speckled '20s-inspired sheath she wore to
the 2004 Golden Globes, would turn to a different designer for the Oscars.
No doubt all the outfits will be punctuated by the world's most beautiful
diamonds, which are often lent by the world's top jewelers for the day.
Jewelry will be more flirty, light and feminine, but no less expensive, said
Carol Brody, a spokeswoman for jeweler Harry Winston.
Especially popular will be sleek "stiletto" diamond earrings, cuff
bracelets, rope necklaces, so-called "right-hand rings," which are
essentially cocktail rings with big stones, and yellow gold.

I don't know what it's like in the USA, but admittedly here in the UK a lot
of mobile phone users are total showoff prats. I have a mobile phone and I
try to use it discreetly, but some people seem to have no effin' clue.

... Linda Hunt.
Diminutive actress whose versatility is her trump card; she can be pixieish or heartbreakingly intense. Hunter was educated at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon Institute before acting in films, and made an inauspicious screen debut in The Burning (1981), a dismal slasher film. She worked in several TV movies and in the Goldie Hawn starrer Swing Shift (1984) before attracting attention as the lovesick, maternal police officer Ed in Raising Arizona (1987). She had an even meatier role as the self-driven TV news producer that same year in James Brooks'Broadcast News Her richly detailed characterization of a successful workaholic earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Since then, Hunter has continually demonstrated her ability to command the screen in leading roles. She was Richard Dreyfuss' star-crossed lover in Steven Spielberg's Always and recreated her stage role as a plucky small-town girl who aspires to greatness in Miss Fire cracker (both 1989). She reteamed with Always star Richard Dreyfuss as a plainJane type who's swept off her feet by a fast-talking salesman in Once Around (1991). But everyone's got a skeleton in his or her cinematic closet, and Hunter's is Animal Behavior (1989), an alleged "comedy" that is truly mindboggling in its awfulness. She has appeared in a handful of notable TV movies, including Crazy in Love (1992) and won Emmys for her memorable performances in Roe vs. Wade (1989) and The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas CheerleaderMurdering Mom (1993), and followed that triumph with two completely variant movie roles: as Gary Busey's sexpot secretary in The Firm and as the repressed, mute 19thcentury immigrant woman in Jane Campion's The Piano (both also 1993). This remarkable performance won her a Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival, but it was her two-movie parlay that won her twin Oscar nominations, and an Oscar for The Piano.
"Acting, for me, is the last vestige of doing something that I would like to feel really naive about." -Interview, November 1995
Holly Hunter is one of the elite eight actors to have been nominated for both a Supporting and Lead Acting Academy Award in the same year. The other seven are Fay Bainter, Teresa Wright, Jessica Lange, Sigourney Weaver, Al Pacino, Emma Thompson, and Julianne Moore. Emma Thompson received her double-nomination in the same year that Hunter did.
Taught by Jorge Guerra.
Announced her separation from husband, Janusz Kaminski. They have had been apart since Halloween. [December 2001]
Turned down the role of God in Dogma (1999).
Replaced Debra Winger for the role of Jane Craig in Broadcast News (1987).
Holly Hunter is a distant cousin of Anaheim Angels' outfielder Tim Salmon.
An accomplished pianist, she actually performed all of the piano music for her Oscar performance in "The Piano". Film makers selected pieces for her that matched her talent.
Hunter's uncle was the first commander of the Thunderbirds, the world-famous U.S. Air Force Demonstration Squadron of fighter pilots.
In 10th grade she placed 8th nationally in a poultry-judging contest. (Interview, 11/95)
She had one line in her film debut, Burning, The (1981) -- "Hey, Todd, over here."
Turned down the female lead in As Good As It Gets (1997)
