Ronan confesses buggy love
11/08/2005 - 11:14:55
Former Boyzone singer Ronan Keating has spent a staggering $180,000
(?145,000) on a golfing cart prior to his appearance on a celebrity golfing
TV show - because he's terrified of being outdone by the A-list line-up.
The singer fears Hollywood stars including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael
Douglas, Hugh Grant and Jodie Kidd will out class him on the set of British
satellite TV network Sky's All Star Cup and plots to steal the limelight
with a state-of-the-art buggy.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Star: "It's cost a small fortune.
It has got black chrome wheels, the front windscreen is tinted black and it
has a full GPRS navigation system. On top of that he's spent £10,000 on a
top of the range music system for the buggy."
Keating's spokesperson insists: "He takes his golf seriously, but the golf
cart is supposed to be tongue in cheek. He saw a luxury cart in America and
decided he wanted one for himself. "

Celebs tee off in TV golf showdown
31/05/2005 - 15:57:01
A string of A-list celebrities was today announced to take part in an
"all-star" golfing showdown featuring teams from Europe and America.
The event, masterminded by television host Anthony McPartlin and Declan
Donnelly, both keen golfers, features Colin Montgomerie and Mark O'Meara as
the non-playing captains of the European and US teams respectively.
The All-Star Cup will see two teams of 10 celebrities from the world of
film, television and sport take part in "the ultimate golfing tournament" at
the Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales - the venue of the 2010 Ryder Cup
matches.
Names confirmed on the European team are Chris Evans, Jodie Kidd, Boris
Becker, Sir Steve Redgrave and James Nesbitt.
The American team boasts Samuel L Jackson, Sylvester Stallone, Andy Garcia,
Chris O'Donnell and Haley Osment.
And it was hinted that the event could even feature Catherine Zeta Jones and
husband Michael Douglas.
Jamie Theakston and Kirsty Gallacher will host the event, to be broadcast on
Sky1 over the August Bank Holiday weekend between August 27 and 29.
Some of the celebrities at the Celtic Manor Resort today said the event
promised to be competitive.
Jodie Kidd, who has a handicap of 18, said: "I will take it very seriously.
"Two weeks, three weeks before, it will start getting very serious, I'm
sure."
She added: "I seem to do very male dominated sports so I feel quite
comfortable on that level.
"I am naturally very competitive and I love golf." She said she was looking
forward to the event.
Chris Evans, with a handicap of 15, admitted he was nervous.
"They're not going to be showing our best shots are they let's face it and
that's why these two (Ant and Dec) aren't in it," he joked.
Evans said the event would be a "laugh" but added it would get
"embarrassingly competitive". He said he would be taking lessons before the
event.
He said golf was a good sport for revealing people's personalities.
Kirsty Gallacher who recently took part in Channel 4's The Games said she
would have liked to have played in the event "If I had the bottle".
Both Gallacher and Theakston are golfers.
Further top names are due to be announced in the build up to the event.
And it was suggested that Zeta Jones and Douglas, who have not been
confirmed as featuring, would be seen on the golf course.
Asked whether the celebrities might be appearing, executive producer Bob
Massie said: "I think you can safely predict that may be the case."
Dec described the show as "A fantastic sports entertainment event rather
than a celebrity based reality show."
He said that he and presenting partner Ant had been playing golf for a
couple of years but joked: "We toyed with the idea of playing ourselves but
we realised we would get really embarrassed by our level of expertise in the
game."
The All-Star Cup coverage will feature the celebrities' nerve wracking
preparations for the event as well as the tournament itself with a potential
cash prize of £1 million up for grabs for one viewer.

Beauty by the stars
November 23, 2004
The Sun-Herald
What's in your favourite celebrity's beauty cabinet? Samantha Brett finds
out.
When Paris Hilton finally revealed that the secret behind her glossy lips
was MAC Purrr Lipglass in Confessions Of An Heiress, I instantly made my way
down to MAC to buy a tube.
Welcome to the world of celebrity beauty products, where the touch of a star
is enough to make us swoon and spend. Why? George Giavis of The Blonde Room
hair salon said the reason is simple: "Life is too short! People want
celebrity products because they want to look and feel as good as
celebrities."
Marie Mason-Bushnell, buyer for LA's Fred Segal, said we buy because we want
to emulate the people we look up to. "People think if they use those
products they can look as good as the stars who do," Mason-Bushnell said.
That's where Australian celebrity make-up artist Chris King comes in. At his
LOOK make-up workshops, he teaches you to use the products and look as good
as the stars. "People will come and say they want to look like a certain
star," King said.
"But I want to show people they must make the best of themselves, and not
try to look like other people."
Giavis agreed: "Cult brands won't make your image. But if you use the best
products, you can't go wrong."
Brand designer for upmarket Aussie body care range MOR, Dianna Burmas
supplies products to a long A-list, including Sharon Osbourne and Elton
John. Hilton bought the entire MOR range, including marshmallow,
passionfruit and green tea, while Oprah has declared it a favourite (twice)
in her magazine.
Another Australian beauty brand, Bloom, is also the choice of celebrities.
Models Helena Christensen and Jodie Kidd use Bloom's aromatherapy lip balms,
while Britney Spears is a fan of Bloom's Pink Pink lip gloss.
And imagine having your very own personalised lippy? Laura Mercier created a
lipstick for her close friend Madonna and named it M, while the creator of
cult make-up brand Stila, Jeanine Lobell, made Fruit Punch lip glaze for her
friend Cameron Diaz. But every celebrity worth her Jimmy Choos is never
without a tube of Lancome's famous delicious Juicy Tubes lip gloss, so she's
always prepared for plenty of air kisses.
With totally kissable lips, you'll need an equally sexy body. The Sex And
The City gal pals shared more than raunchy rendezvous. They were all fans of
Benefit's Bathina Body So Fine, giving their decollete that flirtatious
sheen.
For supple skin, sexy supermodel Naomi Campbell swears by moisturising twice
a day from top to toe with Palmer's Cocoa Butter body cream. "It's the
simple secret of sexy skin you want to be touchable all over," she said.
Lancome Juicy Tubes lip gloss.
As every celebrity will attest, OPI nail polishes are also a must-have.
Madonna wore OPI's Italian Love Affair for her wedding to Guy Ritchie, while
Jennifer Aniston loves Dinner for Two and Kate Hudson adores Breakfast in
Bed. Who doesn't?
While celebrity hair is not as simple as changing your nail polish,
supermodel Heidi Klum has a simple, cheap routine. She loves VO5 Hot Oil
treatment because it works in one minute. Not convinced? You can always
follow Gwyneth Paltrow and use the ultra-rich conditioner, Terax Crema,
dubbed "the conditioner that Hollywood can't live without". Our Aussie
beauty, Kylie Minogue, keeps her rock-star hair looking oh-so-sexy-messy
with a touch of Kusco-Murphy Rockster.
And like luscious hair, a golden tan is as important to a celebrity as
sticking to the South Beach diet. Just ask Paris Hilton, who advises:
"Always have a tan. It looks like you've been in an exotic place." (But she
warns against the diet.) If you thought Victoria and David Beckham's bronzed
limbs were from Spain's warm weather, think again. They are both fans of St.
Tropez tanning spray and have regular bronzing sessions.
Notice how celebrities always have a perfect complexion? Forget airbrushing,
say celebrity make-up artists, it's thanks to Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk
foundation, which gives A-list stars that luminous glow, and Nars' fluid
sheer foundation for a porcelain matte finish.
But even super-glam stars get the occasional pimple, such as Sarah Jessica
Parker, who was caught on the final season of Sex And The City opening her
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage to cover up a zit!
Some celebrities go a little overboard. J.Lo, a fan of the French Diptyque
candles, requests dozens of them to be around her at all times, while Sean
(P. Diddy) Combs requires 50 French Diptyque candles to burn for inspiration
in the recording studio and will only de-fuzz his beard using the luxurious

star," King said.
(P. Diddy) Combs requires 50 French Diptyque candles to burn for inspiration
in the recording studio and will only de-fuzz his beard using the luxurious
eShave shaving range
