Describe the tactics you are actually using while you're actually using
them. (But never admit to it, even though it's obvious, or should be.)
Truth Seeker, following in the footsteps of "Dorian" does this.
It's a mental-confusion gimmick.
Hubbard did this to his own followers, and some are still cross-eyed
from it.
Hubbard described "Orwellian" tactics to Scientologists, while - at the
same time - using those same Orwellian tactics on THEM!

But what OSA-operative (OSA is the office of special affairs of the
church of scientology) Zinj tries to construct would be:
Julie Andrews (a woman) playing the role of a man, who plays the role
of a cross dresser but Julie Andrews would in fact be a man in the body
of a woman who dresses like a cross dresser and plays the role of a man
who plays the role of a cross dresser.

original post in the thread ) - 06 :: http://tinyurl.com/jbf7e
Here is "A critics guide to Alt.Religion.Scientology" by Truth Seeker:
The following is a detailed deion of the tactics the
church of scientology employs on this newsgroup in order to handle
critics.
Technique #1 - Try to keep the outside world from reading the
criticism in the first place.
The scientologists on this newsgroup try to accomplish this in 4
different ways:
1. Try to bury the criticism with lots of news like posts. They feel
that if they can surround it with news like posts, nobody will ever
see it to begin with.
2. They make sure to always respond to the post that contains the
criticism so the reader only reads their ~response~ and not the
~original~ article containing the criticism.
3. Try to get the reader out of this newsgroup entirely by embedding
lots of web links in their response to the critical article. This way
if the reader is off someone at a web site he's not going to be here
on this newsgroup reading criticism of the church of scientology.
4. Try to have the person who wrote the offending article kicked off
the news server that he used to publish the critical article or have
his ISP shut his internet account down. They do this by having 5 or 10
of their church members send multiple complaints to the abuse
department of the news server or the ISP that the critical article was
posted from. They get the Internet Service Provider that the person
was using by the IP address that is embedded in the header information
of their posts. The take the IP address of the posting host and do a
DNS reverse lookup in order to find out who the ISP is. They then get
the abuse email address for the news server also from the header
information of the article that criticized their church. If you take a
look at the header information for any given news article, you will
see where IP address or "Posting host" is listed along with the
"a...@xxxx.com" email address.
Technique #2 - Try to convince the readers of this newsgroup that the
person who wrote the articles isn't a critic at all but a
scientologist.
They believe that if they just get enough of their own agents all
accusing the critic of being a scientologist, the readers of this
newsgroup will believe it. It works off the principle that if 10
people tell you the same lie you will be more likely to believe it
than if just one person tells you a lie. So what they do is post under
10 different names, appearing to be 10 different people all saying
that the critic is a scientologist. The church of scientology believes
that people outside the church can easily be influenced by weight of
numbers, in other words, by peer pressure.
Technique #3 - Try to discredit the critic.
They try to do this by attacking the critic from different angles
with insults in an attempt to get the critic upset and angry. Their
hope is that he will get so upset that he will put up posts with
nothing but angry words in them which will make him look crazy to the
readers of the newsgroup.
Technique #4 - Try to waste your time.
They will try to get you into big long complicated conversations
that go nowhere. They will try to get you to explain this and explain
that. You will spend all you time trying to explaining everything and
answering all their dumb question that you don't have any time to
write more critical articles of the church of scientology. Of course,
this is exactly the reason why they do it. The joke about it is, even
if you do answer all their questions, they will just ask you the same
questions all over again at a later date.
Technique #5 - The Q and A.
"Q and A" means Question and Answer. In the church of scientology
it really means to question an answer. This means that the
scientologists on this newsgroup will ask you a question and whatever
answer you give, they will question it. The answer you give will never
be good enough and they will question it. This will cause the subject
of a conversation to keep changing and go on for miles and miles
without ever coming to a point or a resolution. This will also cause
the reader who is trying to follow the conversation to be confused and
not know what the conversation is about because the subject matter
keeps changing.
Technique #6 - Play games with the communication cycle.
If you ever ask one of the scientologists on this newsgroup a
direct question, you rarely will get an answer from that specific
person you directed the question to, especially if your about to prove
a point or make the scientologist wrong. More than likely, the
response will come from one of the other scientologists on the
newsgroup.
Ever try to have a conversation with 3 different people at the
same time? It's very hard isn't it? Well, that is what the
scientologists on this newsgroup are trying to re-create on this
newsgroup. For example, lets say you ask a question of one
scientologist, you get a response from another scientologist. Then
when you respond to the 2nd scientologist you get an answer from a 3rd
scientologists. To add more confusion to the situation, the 3rd
scientologist's answer has nothing to do with the subject of the
question. In this way they are trying to cause upset and frustration
in the critic. Here is an example of what I'm talking about. Let's say
you ask "Magoo" a question that will make "Magoo" wrong. Instead of
responding to your question, "Magoo" goes off and hides and you get an
response from "Barbz". When you ask "Barbz" why she responded to a
question meant for "Magoo" you won't get an answer back from "Barbz".
Instead you get a response to that question from "Zinj" and the
response "Zinj" gives isn't an answer to the question but just a bunch
of insults. In this way, they try to scramble the communication cycle
and hopefully scramble your mind in the process
Another technique they run is to give you an non-sequitur answer
to your question. In other words, to give an answer that had nothing
to do with the question. For example, if you asked a person what their
favorite color was and their answer was "7", that would be a
non-sequitur answer. "7" is the answer to a totally different
question. "7" is an answer to the question: "What is your favorite
number?" or "What's 5 + 2?".
Technique #7 - Alter the name the critic posts under.
L. Ron Hubbard taught them that the keynote to destruction is
"alter-isness" . For example, if you take a house and blow it up, you
have altered its form and therefore destroyed it. Even if you blow up
a house, the house is still there except it's form has been altered.
In an attempt to destroy you, the scientologists on this newsgroup
will alter the name you post under. For example, if you post under the
name of "Truth Seeker" they will start calling you "Toothie" or
"Trough Slurper" or "Turd Spewer".
Technique #8 - Name calling.
Yes, the scientologist on this newsgroup will dish out the
insults and put downs just like anyone else. They feel that if they
can hurt your feelings enough and associate enough pain with posting
criticism of their church, you will leave and not come back.
Technique #9 - Make the critic wrong.
The church of scientology feels that anyone who attacks them
could be an "SP" ( Suppressive Person ). The church of scientology
believes that if you make a "SP" wrong they he will get sick. So they
try to make the critic wrong in any way they possible can, even if
it's how they spell or their grammar. It seems as though they have
scientologists assigned to this newsgroup with just the purpose of
scanning a critic's posts looking for spelling and grammar mistakes.

True, but they're ridiculous only because heterosexual relationships
comprise the vast majority of Americans. Until gay unions overtake

Liberals shouting "bigotry" is akin to them surrendering (not to the
terrorists, which they've already done but to the argument). Better
luck next time.
Tough shit. Start being offended by actual problems and you might not
be so incredibly marginalized.
More people should *be* offended. The

Too bad gay jokes aren't necessarily homophobic. Try not to cry.

Wow, that was great. Wait a minute, no it wasn't. No wonder you despise
Leno's complete dominance over Letterman. Try to make your temper
tantrums at least semi-interesting in the future.

her face. However, filming the sequence became an almost intolerable
exercise for the British actress, now 70. She says, "I will never forget it,
there was a large helicopter coming towards me through the mountains with a
brave cameraman hanging out the side. We shot the scene many times, and at
the end of each take, the helicopter would circle round. The downdraft
nailed me flat onto the grass, and a couple of times I bit the dust. At
first it was funny, but after several times I began to get very angry."

Gee, I had the wildest dream. I dreamt that Cameron Diaz'>Cameron Diaz is going to take
the lead in a remake of 'the sound of music'. no way this could be real.
JESUS H TAP DANCING CHRIST!!!!
Is Juile Andrews high or senile? If it were going to be a topless version
that would be one thing. What are they gonna do, make Blake Edwards the
director (on face value that wouldn't be a bad thing.) What's next, make
Timberlake the daddy, the two can french kiss while escaping nazi germany!
The only way I would watch a remake of TSOM is if Jenna Jameson took the
staring role.

Diaz 'is ideal Sound of Music actress'
28/11/2005 - 20:42:31
Cameron Diaz would be the ideal actress to play Maria if The Sound of Music
were ever to be remade, Dame Julie Andrews said tonight.
The 70-year-old star named the blonde Hollywood actress during a question
and answer session to mark the 40th anniversary of the popular musical.
She also admitted that the star of My Fair Lady told her she should have
played Eliza Doolittle.
"Audrey Hepburn told me: 'You should have done it but I didn't have the guts
to turn it down,' but she was a great friend and a lovely, dear lady."
Asked why The Sound of Music was still a family favourite she replied: "It's
about decency. It's about love of family and love of country. It had the
amazing scenery but phenomenal music and it's something the whole family can
enjoy."
She added she didn't feel her role in the film or the part as Mary Poppins
was a burden.
"I am the lucky person that got asked to play those movies. There are
hundreds of other ladies who sing just as well or better than I do and I was
the lucky one who got asked," she said.
The famous opening scene of the 1965 film sees Dame Julie happily running
through the mountains as she sings. But the star said the making of that
scene wasn't quite as serene as it appeared.
"I will never forget it, there was a large helicopter coming towards me
through the mountains with a brave cameraman hanging out the side.
"We shot the scene many times and at the end of each take the helicopter
would circle round. The downdraft nailed me flat onto the grass and a couple
of times I bit the dust. At first it was funny but after several times I
began to get very angry."
The star gave up musical roles for health reasons and has recently provided
the voice of Queen Lillian in the forthcoming Shrek 3.
"I miss singing very, very much but the best thing is I have never been
busier."
She added she was halfway through writing her autobiography but it was
proving rather difficult.
"It's hard to find one's own voice when you write, it's easier to write a
child's book with a voice that you create.
"I so want to do it well and do justice to all the wonderful people I've
worked with."

Christina Returns To Mousey Roots
Christina Aguilera has gone back to her mousey roots - by helping Mickey
Mouse and pals celebrate the 50th anniversary of Disneyland in the US.
The multi-million selling singer, who started her career as a Mouseketeer on
the Mickey Mouse Club, was joined by supermodel Tyra Banks and Desperate
Houswife Teri Hatcher at the celebrations.
But there was no sign of her old colleagues Britney Spears and Justin
Timberlake.
The 1980s show gave the world its first glimpse of all three singers, who as
well as presenting, regularly sang and danced their way through the show.
But Mickey didn't have time to miss them as he was joined by some of
Disney's other greatest stars to raise a toast to the Californian theme
park.
Mary Poppins star Julie Andrews happily posed for the cameras, as did Buzz
Lightyear's voice Tim Allen, as well as Father Of The Bride's Steve Martin.
The celebrations came to a loud end with a spectacular fireworks display.

Timberlake to Have Operation to Save Singing Career
Pop hunk Justin Timberlake will undergo surgery on his throat next week to
remove nodules which threaten to destroy his singing career. Timberlake
allegedly discovered the condition while recording his latest single "Signs"
with rapper Snoop Dogg and immediately contacted doctors, who banned him
from straining his voice until medics at a private Los Angeles hospital have
dealt with the problem. A close friend tells British newspaper The Sun,
"Recently Justin's been in the studio again making 'Signs' with Snoop Dogg.
That's when he realized there was a problem with his voice. "He saw a
specialist and was diagnosed with nodules. The operation is fairly simple so
he should be fine. But he will have to rest by talking very little and not
singing."" Timberlake joins a list of stars including Geri Halliwell, Rod
Stewart, Dame Julie Andrews and Joss Stone who have had operations to remove
throat nodules.

I would think that casting a NUN would require that the actress have
little or zero degree of "hotness" whatsoever. Unibrow....palid
complexion...steel wool for hair. But then I remember Audrey Hepburn
as a nun, and she's not "hot" but she's surely not a "nun" type. Same
with Julie Andrews.

Super! Poppins Stars Unite
Veteran Mary Poppins star Julie Andrews had a blast from the past when she
attended a West End performance of the timeless classic which won her an
Oscar 40 years ago.
The screen legend was joined at the charity gala at London's Prince Edward
theatre by dozens of stars including Liz Hurley and Elle McPherson.
Dame Julie watched 23-year-old Laura Michelle Kelly recreate her famous role
as the brolly-wielding no-nonsense nanny.
Speaking after the show, she said: "What an extraordinarily wonderful
evening.
"Can you imagine the joy and memories that this has brought back to me? I've
been so delighted to see what everybody has done with this lovely piece, and
it's a little bit of the old and a lot of the new and I think it's great."
Dame Julie, 69, who won an Oscar for best actress for her performance in the
original Disney film, was cheered as she entered the theatre and clapped her
way through the famous musical number Supercalifragilistic.
The performance was the first time Dame Julie, who divides her time between
her homes in the US and Switzerland, saw the timeless classic on stage.
Proceeds from last night's performance will go the UK-based children's
charity Absolute Return for Kids (Ark), international relief agency,
Operation USA, of which The Sound of Music star is a trustee, and to drama
school Lamda.

ABC Execs Give Thanks to 'God' -- and Halle
By Lisa de Moraes
Wednesday, March 9, 2005; Page C07
About 25 million pairs of eyes were watching "God" on ABC and even more were
watching "Idol" on Fox, but by bulking up on "CSIs," the Eye Network managed
to snag the biggest average audience for the week anyway.
Here's a look at the week's powerful and weak:
Halle Berry starred in "Their Eyes Were Watching God," which drew the best
ratings for a made-for-TV movie in five years. (Vivian Zink -- Abc)
WINNERS
"Their Eyes Were Watching God." Nearly 25 million pairs of them, though we
suspect they were watching Halle Berry. ABC's latest brought-to-you-by-Oprah
flick was the most watched movie on any network since CBS's
December-December romance "One Special Night," starring Julie Andrews and
James Garner, more than five years ago. It's also Oprah Winfrey's biggest
ABC flick audience since "Before Women Had Wings" in November '97.
"NYPD Blue" wrapped up its 12-season run with 16.1 million viewers on
Tuesday -- the cop drama's largest audience in more than three years. The
tribute that preceded it drew ABC's largest non-sports audience in the time
slot since May 2002 -- more than 13 million.
"Law & Order: Trial by Jury." In "ER's" Thursday 10 p.m. hour, NBC's fourth
"Law & Order" drama opened with more than 17 million viewers -- the
franchise's biggest opening haul ever. Predictably, the show's numbers went
down the next night when it moved to its regular Friday time slot, though
its 14.5 million viewers still constituted NBC's largest audience in the
time period in about two years, excluding Olympics coverage.
"America's Next Top Model." The UPN reality series started its fourth cycle
with its biggest opening audience yet -- 5.1 million viewers.
LOSERS
Fox's Friday. Fox logged its smallest Friday prime-time audience since at
least 1991 with a losers' parade that included an infomercial for the flick
"Robots," which averaged a lousy 2.7 million viewers, and "Jonny Zero,"
which fell to a lowest-yet 2.3 million.
"Starlet." Hope Faye Dunaway didn't think this reality series for WB would
jump-start her career; it's the least-watched series opening of the TV
season on any network, with just 1.6 million bothering to watch.
"Bachelorette." ABC's reality series suffered a smallest-ever finale
audience of just 8.4 million viewers. Ironically, immediately after, the
post-finale blah-blah show "Bachelorette: After the Final Rose" logged that
franchise's biggest audience ever -- 11.3 million viewers. This is probably
because bachelorette Jen shrewdly saved her final bit of guy-rejecting for
the blah-blah show.
"Deadwood." HBO's critically heralded western opened its second season with
an average of 2.79 million viewers Sunday around 9 p.m. Its first season
finale had opened with 3.21 million and the series premiered with 5.79
million.
"The Contender." NBC's oft-delayed boxing competition finally debuted this
Monday to less than great results, triggering a tsunami of boxing puns from
competitors and The Reporters Who Cover Television: " 'The Contender' failed
to deliver many solid punches," " 'Contender' takes first-round beating,"
"Sylvester Stallone and Fox's Oscar De La Hoya have been knocked out by
dismal ratings." The much-ballyhooed preview bagged a disappointing 8
million viewers, though it did manage to win its time period among men 18 to
34.
"Fat Actress." Thin crowd. On the other hand, 924,000 viewers is a good
number for the premiere telecast of a Showtime series. Still, given all the
hype, you'd think it would have cracked the million mark in its first
telecast last night. For comparison, the premiere of Showtime's "The L Word"
weighed in with about 930,000 viewers, but "Fat" crushed "Huff," which had
opened with about 460,000. "Fat" wasn't helped much by its "Super Size Me"
lead-in, which produced a measly 383,000 viewers; in its replay later last
night, "Fat Actress" drew 349,000.
The week's 10 most watched programs, in order, were: Fox's Tuesday "American
Idol"; CBS's "CSI"; ABC's Sunday flick "Their Eyes Were Watching God"; Fox's
Wednesday and Monday "American Idol"; CBS's "Survivor: Palau"; ABC's "Lost"
and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"; NBC's Thursday unveiling of "Law &
Order: Trial by Jury"; and ABC's "NYPD Blue" series finale.
