You pretty much have to be like Lynda Carter was-- a tall, solid-built,
chesty, yet feminine woman to play Wonder Woman. Tyra's a stick. You

Absolutely, yes, if he otherwise fits the personality and general
looks of the part.
And, FTR, my *first* choice for Superman is Third Watch's Coby Bell
(Officer Ty Davis). That Brandon Routh has all the presence of a dust
mite.
Ethnicity defines personality far more than height does. FTR, the
*first* trait we were taught to treat as so expendable as to throw it
away in casting considerations when I was working on my theater degree
was height. Other than avoiding extreme height differentials (ie:
6'6" Romeo, 5'2" Juliet), height is virtually inconsequential in
casting.
But hell, I'm going to go over to imdb to verify somethin':
According to their imdb bios, Nathan Fillion is 6'1" and Morena
Baccarin is actually 5' 7+3/4" -- not nearly as short as reported
elsewhere in this thread. By comparison, Lynda Carter is 5'9" (Lauren
Graham is this height, too.)
But even if Morena Baccarin'>Morena Baccarin were in the 5'2"-5'3" range, there's
*still* precedent even in the Joss Multiverse -- Sarah Michelle Gellar
is 5'3" and David Boreanaz is 6'1."
That's the same height relationship as the incorrect Baccarin data of
5'3" is to Fillion's 6'1."
WW doesn't *have* to be tall at all -- her powers are just as
mythical/magical as Buffy's. All that one has to believe is that the
actress fits the character's personality and basic type as written.
Morena's all that.

had them removed, though.)

No. Lynda Carter did a nude scene for a movie before she was cast as
WW. Nude scenes in mainstream movies aren't even remotely a
disqualifier, no matter how much Jeezoids would like to (irrationally
and mistakenly) describe any and all nudity as pornography.
(OTOH, I suspect that *Heather* Graham would never be in the running
because of Rollergirl and Killing Me Softly, but I think she's the
exception that proves the rule. Nudity just isn't an issue.)

Not even remotely the type. She reads Asian, not Greek (Perez
version) or Western European (all pre-Perez versions) and reads far
too young, far too cold and far too not-regal. Even in colorblind
casting, she's not even remotely the personality type. Glau's so far
off-model compared to either Torres or the absolutely perfect Baccarin
that IMO there's not a chance that she's ever going to be in the
running to play Diana.

Simpson 'Dukes' It Out
By Angela Dawson
Entertainment News Wire
Jessica Simpson has become a pop culture phenomenon with music releases, TV
specials, a fragrance line and a reality series with husband (and native
Cincinnatian) Nick Lachey.
Now the shapely blonde wants to give acting a try.
Simpson is making her movie debut as Daisy Duke in the big screen version of
"The Dukes of Hazzard," based on the classic TV series that began in 1979
and lasted for six seasons. The movie opens in Cincinnati and nationwide on
Friday.
Just good ol' boys (never meaning no harm, as the song says), Bo and Luke
Duke (played in the movie by Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville,
respectively) are always getting in hot water with the sheriff of Hazzard
County, Ga., and the unscrupulous Boss Hogg. Together with their beautiful
cousin Daisy and their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson), they run an illegal
moonshine business, always managing to stay a step ahead of the law.
In the big screen version, the Duke boys uncover Boss Hogg's plot to seize
control of their farm and surrounding properties to start a strip mine. Can
the boys round up their neighbors to block Hogg's greedy plans? Can they get
their beloved orange Dodge Charger, the General Lee, in top racing form to
win the local road rally? Are Daisy Duke's shorts short?
Sitting down to talk about her first film role in a form-fitting Dolce &
Gabbana sundress, Simpson is obviously a little nervous about meeting the
press to promote her first movie. She sweetly stammers while answering her
first question. "I've been talking a lot today," she says apologetically.
Taking a breath and a sip of Red Bull, the 25-year-old Texas native composes
herself and explains that she wanted to launch her film career with a role
she felt she could manage. After reading the , credited to John
O'Brien and co-written by the comedy team Broken Lizard, she was certain the
role of Daisy Duke would be a good starting point. "It was a conscious
decision to be part of an ensemble," she says. "I didn't want the pressure
of carrying a movie."
Director Jay Chandrasekhar recalls Simpson was like a sponge on the set,
soaking up knowledge from her co-stars. The more she was around Scott,
Knoxville, Burt Reynolds (who plays Boss Hogg) and Lynda Carter (who plays a
family friend), the better she got, he says.
Simpson describes her work with the cast as a hoot. "These guys are the
funniest," she says of Knoxville and Scott, flashing a bright smile. "Johnny
and Seann were so good at improv. Half the things they say in the movie
weren't even ed."
Carter offered Simpson encouragement and Reynolds even gave her a sapphire
ring that spelled out "Daisy" on her first day on the set.
Keeping up with the boys was a challenge, though. "I stood off in the corner
and would kind of watch them because they're so good," she recalls.
Scott found Simpson to be "a sweet girl" and assured her she was doing fine,
telling her they were only making a movie together, "not trying to save the
world." That kind of support made Simpson comfortable in front of the
camera.
The skimpy costumes took some getting used to, particularly the sexy
short-shorts and revealing tops for which Daisy Duke is known. Though
Simpson has used her sex appeal as a pop star, playing a character that
manipulates men to get what she wants felt completely odd, she says. "I
don't think I can get whatever I want because I would be way too shy to drop
a jacket and have only a bikini on underneath," she notes. "That's just not
me."
Indeed, Simpson is a preacher's daughter who's spent much of her life being
scrutinized by others. She started out performing alongside gospel acts and
toured in support of the pop group 98 Degrees, where she met Nick Lachey.
The two married in 2002 and six months later took the bold step of allowing
MTV cameras into their home to document their day-to-day routines.
"Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica" became a huge hit and was renewed for a second
season.
After "Dukes," Simpson returned to the recording studio executive producing
(for the first time) her next album, "And the Band Played On," slated for
release in November.
She also covers Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made for Walking" for the
"Hazzard" soundtrack with Nelson.
Now that she's had a taste of acting, Simpson hopes to do more. "I'm
definitely more confident," she says. "I believe that if I put my mind to it
I can make it happen."
In her next movie, a comedy called "Major Movie Star," Simpson will play an
actress who finds herself signing up for the military. With her second
effort, Simpson will go from supporting actress to leading lady.
"Do I think I can carry a movie?" she echoes a question. "I really do hope
so. I think I can."

Carter: 'Hazzard' Co-Star Simpson Needs to Grow Up
Wed, Jul 20, 2005, 12:07 PM PT
By Hanh Nguyen
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Ever since Jessica Simpson's private life
was spotlighted on MTV's hit show "Newlyweds," she's been criticized
for being immature. Her "Dukes of Hazzard" co-star Lynda Carter agrees
with this assessment, but not in a critical way.
Instead, the "Wonder Woman" actress says she identified with Simpson
who was "professional and serious" about her comedic role, but lacked
the necessary confidence to stand on her own without an entourage to
shield her.
"When I was with Jessica, I saw myself -- being terrified a little
bit," Carter says. "Everything else around you is kind of spinning,
and your only safe haven is a group of people you travel with. You
kind of get your growth stunted.
"It wasn't necessarily a negative sign, it was just a part of the
process. It's just your safe place."
Although Carter, 54, didn't give her 25-year-old co-star advice --
believing that independence will come with age and experience -- she
did tell Simpson a personal story about skewed self-perception.
A couple of years ago, Carter discovered a picture of her younger
self, wearing a dress and looking attractive. "I can remember walking
in Georgetown [that day] and thinking, 'Oh God, I look so fat. I
shouldn't be wearing this dress,'" the '70s icon relates. "But I
looked good."
Nowadays, Carter doesn't need the lasso of truth to tell her she's
still got it. "I'm very comfortable in my own skin. I don't have to be
a Size 2," she says. "I try to eat healthy and do the right thing so I
don't look like a dragon in two years."
Although she's still beloved by millions, the former Miss World
remains grounded by living in Washington, DC -- away from the
influence of Hollywood. Also, her kids make it plain that they don't
share the world's "Wonder Woman" adulation.
"They keep you humble," she explains. "Teenagers think that you are
about nothing. [To them] you get dumber every year."
"Dukes of Hazzard," due to drive into theaters on Friday, Aug. 5,
stars Simpson as the scantily clad Daisy Duke and Carter as southern
lady Pauline. Before heading down south though, she'll fly into
theaters on Friday, July 29 as Principal Powers, the headmistress of
the superhero school "Sky High."

No, she hasn't signed onto Good Sheppard, and won't be. That is a Pitt
production. She doesn't need to be under his control, as much as he
would have liked that. Imagine the damage he could do then, in a movie
with the CIA acting as advisors, and Pitt as producer. Like that is
going to happen. Why not just shackle her to the f*cking bed?
And Smith and Smith have a baby?
That is the kind of thing you think of ahead of time, again, before you
set out to do her damage with images on the cover of Star magazine cut
and pasted together and all sorts of charcter assasination attempts
done in the guise of reshoots. These people had their chance, they
f*cked that up.
So no to that one.
Then you have Ben.
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050614g.php
Everyone has a Ben, know what I'm sayin? Everyone has a movie
Ben, know what I'm sayin? I know I know, you were a happily married
man, until you came up with this pitch right? Or maybe thinking a
little three way action, (hands making jesture with imaginery soccer
ball)
What's the rush? This movie with Ben is probably harmless enough
providing the money was very good, and the part not very large, and the
schedule was not too demanding.
There is also Wonder Woman. She could do some strength training, and do
that movie, with a lot of body double fill in, a lot of other people
doing the stunts, a lot of computer generated special effects, so that
her part was not that demanding. Providing it wasn't corny, like the
way Lynda Carter did it and providing they paid her 20 million to do
it.
If it was done like Fantastic Four, with real excellent effects, and in
the true genre, of action hero, serious action hero, not corny lame
action hero. Then that might be a good one. And she could do a
Cruise and get a percentage, because that one, if it appealed to the
younger audiences, could rake in 500 million dollars.
But she has more important work to do on the world stage, and she wants
to adopt again, and Maddox is starting school, or maybe he could get a
tutor, but he still has increasing needs.
She could do bit parts and cameos, she doesn't really need the money,
but then when people treat her properly, it can be fun. But anything to
do with sex goddess again, that just conflicts with her work in the
UN, which is more important.
I suppose Ben if you pay her enough, and you don't try to do anything
untoward with contract controls that could allow anyone to have her
under the gun, while her character was being assasinated, then maybe
that would be OK. Wait a minute. Did you say Clive Owen? No. Sorry.
What was I thinking. Seductress equals type casting equals bad for her
repuation.
Maybe Wonder woman instead.

Holmes is as right for Wonder Woman as Nicholas Cage was going to be for
Superman.
I'm no Jolie supporter, but she's the only one I think has the Amazonian

Cruise and Holmes could head down under
13:43 AEST Sun Jun 5 2005
AAP
Katie Holmes and her new beau Tom Cruise could be heading to Australia for a
working holiday.
Holmes, with her long brunette locks, is one of Hollywood's top candidates
to play Wonder Woman in producer Joel Silver's film about the sexy
superhero.
Silver has earmarked Australia as the likely shoot location for the
big-budget project and Holmes says if the is good, she might be
interested in donning the red, white and blue costume and bullet-reflecting
bracelets.
"I'd have to read it," Holmes told AAP in Los Angeles while promoting her
new film, another big-budget comic adaptation, Batman Begins.
As a child growing up in Toledo, Ohio, Holmes said she idolised Wonder
Woman, the superhero brought to life by actress Lynda Carter in the 1970s
television series.
"I was part of the majority of little girls that loved Wonder Woman," Holmes
said.
Hollywood-based Silver, whose films have made more than $US5 billion ($A6.6
billion) worldwide, says Australia is his favourite place to shoot. In
recent years he made the Matrix trilogy, House of Wax and Ghost Ship in
Australia.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon will write the Wonder Woman
.
After her successful TV series Dawson's Creek and a number of strong
performances in independent films such as Pieces of April, Holmes, 26,
received her first taste of large-scale Hollywood film-making on Batman
Begins.
Batman Begins reportedly cost $US120 million ($A159 million) to make and,
with strong early reviews and a unique approach to the Batman genre by
delving into the early life Bruce Wayne, the film will likely be one of the
biggest hits of 2005.
Holmes, who plays a tough district attorney and love interest of the young
Wayne, did not get to don a cape or costume, but the scale of the project
impressed her.
"You have to have a good story in whatever medium you're involved in and
this has a great story," Holmes, who surprised the entertainment world when
she unveiled her romance with Cruise in late April, said of Batman Begins.
"It was exciting.
"The size of it, the sets, it was extraordinary."
Batman Begins opens in Australia on June 16.

The woman is a psychopath! Stay well away from her.
She tried to drown Christine Blair in her bathroom. If Michael Baldwin
hadn't stopped her she would have gotten rid of her and Paul Williams
both. She' more dangerous than Phyllis.

Just one of those things that make you go hummmm.
Who deserves to be impeached and imprisoned the most?
A president receiving face from an adult willing female?
Or a president who lies to over four billion people
worldwide and then orders the attack and destruction
of hundreds of thousands of innocents, 1,600 American
GI'S killed and over 25,000 permanently disfigured?

Wonder Woman flies to Aus
By Donna Walker-Mitchell
May 11, 2005
LOS ANGELES: Look out Superman and Ghost Rider, Wonder Woman is set to touch
down in Australia in her invisible jet.
Hollywood super producer, Joel Silver, has revealed Australia is at the top
of his list as the shoot location for his next blockbuster, Wonder Woman the
movie.
"When I make Wonder Woman I'll probably do it in Australia," said Silver,
whose long list of profitable films, including the Die Hard and Lethal
Weapon movies, have made $US5 billion ($A6.44 billion) at the box office
worldwide.
"I love working in Australia," je said. "It makes great sense to me."
Australia has almost become the New Jersey-born Silver's second home with
the three Matrix films shot in Sydney and Ghost Ship and House of Wax on the
Gold Coast.
The 52-year-old producer is also fond of Australians. Silver hired Hugo
Weaving to star and James McTeigue to direct his new action film, V for
Vendetta, currently shooting in Germany with Oscar nominee Natalie Portman.
The Wonder Woman project is hush-hush at the moment, but Silver said Buffy
the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon was putting the together.
Casting is top secret and Silver would not be drawn into speculation about
who might slip into the skimpy red, white and blue costume and
bullet-reflecting bracelets Lynda Carter made famous in the 1970s TV series.
"No, we're not there yet," Silver said of the casting. "We're still writing
the ."
The OC's Mischa Barton was rumoured to be a candidate to play the Amazonian
princess warrior, and another US actress, Jessica Biel, who was in Australia
last year shooting the action film, Stealth, has also been mentioned as a
potential Wonder Woman.
A date for when Wonder Woman and her magic lasso might begin shooting also
was not certain.
"There's no timeframe yet," Silver said. "We've got Joss Whedon writing the
.
"When we have a we'll make a decision about what we're going to do."
With Nicolas Cage filming Ghost Rider in Melbourne and US actor Brandon
Routh in his cape and red underpants shooting Superman in Sydney, Australia
has become a favourite destination for superheroes.
It's also a retreat for the hardworking Silver. "I just wish Australia
wasn't so far away," Silver said.
"I love being in Australia and I love making movies there. Australia is just
a comfortable place for me to work."
