Absolutely, yes, if he otherwise fits the personality and general
looks of the part.
And, FTR, my *first* choice for Superman is Third Watch's Coby Bell
(Officer Ty Davis). That Brandon Routh has all the presence of a dust
mite.
Ethnicity defines personality far more than height does. FTR, the
*first* trait we were taught to treat as so expendable as to throw it
away in casting considerations when I was working on my theater degree
was height. Other than avoiding extreme height differentials (ie:
6'6" Romeo, 5'2" Juliet), height is virtually inconsequential in
casting.
But hell, I'm going to go over to imdb to verify somethin':
According to their imdb bios, Nathan Fillion is 6'1" and Morena
Baccarin is actually 5' 7+3/4" -- not nearly as short as reported
elsewhere in this thread. By comparison, Lynda Carter is 5'9" (Lauren
Graham is this height, too.)
But even if Morena Baccarin'>Morena Baccarin were in the 5'2"-5'3" range, there's
*still* precedent even in the Joss Multiverse -- Sarah Michelle Gellar
is 5'3" and David Boreanaz is 6'1."
That's the same height relationship as the incorrect Baccarin data of
5'3" is to Fillion's 6'1."
WW doesn't *have* to be tall at all -- her powers are just as
mythical/magical as Buffy's. All that one has to believe is that the
actress fits the character's personality and basic type as written.
Morena's all that.

I think it's generally more acceptable to cast taller than to cast shorter.

Height in comics is not about practicality, though, it's about image. It's
an important part of the character of Wonder Woman to look physically
imposing. It's part of, but not all of, what gives her presence. Wolverine
is different, because he looks feral regardless of height.
Can you honestly accept a 5 foot tall, 120 pound Superman?

No more than casting a white person in the role is racism.

Can't act.
>Shannon Elizabeth
Can't act, but knows comics.
>Catherine Bell
Can't act.
>Gisele
Can't act.
>Kate Beckinsale (could certainly work)
Would work, but needs to regain the ability to eat.
>Rosalyn Sanchez (body too good for WW)
Too slutty.
>Jennifer Aniston
Well, she's Greek, which is a plus (and would be convincing as a
brunette), but she lacks the nobility/gravitas and nonjudgmentalism of
WW. (ie: she's too snarky, too petty and too common)
>Rebecca Romijn
Can't act.
>Jessica Simpson (could pull it off)
Can't act.
>Jessica Biel
Too young, too stupid. Bad actress besides.
>Jessica Alba
Jesus Fucking Christ. Worst Actress not named Charlize in movies
today.
>Charlize Theron
Worst Actress in movies today. You'd might as well have suggested
Carrot Top.
>Rhona Mitra (yummy)
Too old for a Year One reboot. If Joss comes up with an older-Diana
concept that she could do, Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham would do it better.
>Eva Longoria (too skinny?)
Too common, too petty, and totally incapable of generating any sense
of nobility.
>Katie Holmes
Too involved in a mind-controlling cult.
>Nikki Cox
Could work, but again, old enough that, if the concept could work with
her, then Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham would be *far* better.
>Charisma Carpenter
Two too many breast implants. They need to sell happy meals to kids
and advocacy of breast mutilation would be a no-no. Also, while she's
comedically talented, she lacks dramatic chops. Also, again, she's
old enough (35) that even if she weren't a walking anti-feminist tract
with those implants, Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham would be *far* better.
>Rachel Bilson (she did it on the O.C. for Halloween)
She's a good comedic actress, but she lacks dramatic weight. Needs a
few more years of acting under her belt. But if Joss were to think
enough of her to cast her, I think he'd do wonders (if you'll pardon
the expression) for her. OTOH, as an effects-based movie that'll
inevitably take 5-8 months on average to shoot, most lead actresses on
TV shows are out of the running until either their shows end or they
choose to leave the show to take it on.
>Jennifer Garner (athletic enough)
She's very much a girl-next-door type and has no ability whatsoever to
go beyond that basic type toward Diana's nobility, gravitas and
nonjudgmentalism.
>Alyssa Milano (what boys haven't fantasized about this one?)
Can't act. Surgically modified. Lots of tattoos makes CGI budget a
fucking nightmare.
>Rose McGowan (too pale?)
Nope. She's a valid choice IMO.
>Penelope Cruz
Can't act.
>Angelina Jolie (I'm sure she's a frontrunner among men)
Too many tattoos (see also: Alyssa Milano), and too much psychotic
baggage. Lesbian chic cancelled out by incest-chic. And after Brad
Pitt, no one's going to buy her as every woman's best friend. You'd
might as well have suggested Asia Argento, who's similarly far too
sleazy to play WW.
>Kate Bosworth
Not the type. She'd make a great Donna Troy, though.
>Liv Tyler
Possibility.
>Kristanna Loken (athletic w/ awesome body)
Can't act.
>Cameron Diaz (too skinny?)
Not even remotely the type. Lacks dramatic chops. Can't play the
nobility.
>Demi Moore (too old?)
Too old, too surgically enhanced (see also: Charisma Carptenter). And
if she could work in the concept, then Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham would be the
*far* better choice.
>Nicole Kidman (too skinny?)
Too icy, but could work in the part if she'd take some assertiveness
lessons from Angelina Jolie.
>Eliza Dushku
Too white-trash. Husky voice sinks her. Also, she's almost as short
as Morena Baccarin, so if Dushku, then Baccarin would be *far* better.
>Jennifer Lopez
Can't act. Not even remotely right ethnicity for even a half-Greek
spin on an essentially white-European character. If we were to go
color-blind with the casting, Gina Torres is the first and *only*
choice, IMO.
>Ashley Judd (I'd love to see this!)
She'd work. But she's old enough now that if her, then Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham
would be better.
>Brooke Burns (best body to match)
Can't act.
>Rachel Weisz
Would work, one of few who matches Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham'>Lauren Graham and Morena Baccarin
in appropriateness.
>Denise Richards (hot tamale)
Can't act.
>Molly Sims
Can't act. The only actress from Las Vegas near the type is, IMO,
Vanessa Marcil, and she's only sexy in an entertainingly skeevy way.
