The Williams sisters aren't just adversaries on court.
Tabloids are whispering that tennis phenoms Venus and Serena Williams are
competing against each other for a role in the next "X-Men" movie.
Both reportedly want to play a bisexual prostitute in the sequel. The film's
director, Brett Ratner, reportedly dated Serena recently, according to The
Sun.
According to sources, Ratner hasn't decided because he thinks both sisters
ooze the seductive sex appeal required for the part.
Halle Berry and Sir Ian McKellen are already signed on for the film.

FOR more than 20 years the world's known her as The Body and this week in
London a mystery buyer wholeheartedly endorsed the tag, paying $385,000 for
two nude Elle Macpherson photographs.
The Australian supermodel and entrepreneur was among 44 of the world's most
desirable women who got naked in the name of art, charity - and a pair of
sought-after Jimmy Choo heels for a group of photographs that went to
auction, reports Ben English from London.
The price fetched for Elle's images - showing her perched daintily on a
chair with a strategically placed copy of the Financial Times - was the
fourth highest of the Christies auction, behind fellow supermodel Kate Moss
whose pic topped the bidding at $656,000.
Elle was also pipped in the bidding by Jimmy Choo proprietor Tamara Mellon,
whose pose lying across a West End bar fetched $534,600. Victoria Beckham
was next with $437,400.
Other beauties on display included supermodels Yasmin Le Bon and Heidi Klum,
singer Christina Aguilera, tennis amazon Serena Williams and Duchess of York

Some of the pranks are just plain mean but I guess that's the point, to
humiliate the celeb. It's interesting to watch, you can kinda get a
glimpse into the true personality of some celebs and how they treat
other people and handle problems. Some of the celebs come across
looking like assholes, some come across looking like really nice
people. Some of the nicer ones that have recently aired, IMO, have
been Serena Williams, Nicole Richie and Joss Stone. All 3 came across
looking like really sweet girls who went above and beyond to try and
diffuse the situation and/or help someone out.

their fans away from the tennis court with a new reality TV show. The stars
have closed a deal to film a six-episode series based on their lives on and

For a guy who picked up three Grammys, Usher was looking less than
elated after Sunday night's music awards.
Backstage spies say the R&B star seemed vexed that his CD
"Confessions," which earned him eight nominations, didn't do better.
"Usher thought 'Confessions' was going to sweep the way that Michael
Jackson's 'Thriller' did," a mole tells us. "After the show, he
wouldn't let anyone come into his dressing room. He wouldn't do any
interviews or pose for an official Grammy picture."
Godfather of Soul James Brown did offer some consolation - telling one
and all that Usher was his "Godson. I'm passing the torch!"
The Godson also had a beautiful shoulder to cry on - that of Eishia
Brightwell, the model we told you he was seeing back in July. Having
just spent a vacation together, the pair couldn't keep their hands off
each other. "Eishia seemed to be Usher's way of telling [sometime gal
pal] Naomi Campbell he'd moved on," says one observer.
The singer seemed to have banished his blues by the time he reached his
victory party. When he wasn't manning the turntables with Quentin
Tarantino, he was being fawned upon by former Attorney General Janet

bash, leaving her boyfriend alone to give a toast to West.
Prince didn't deign to pick up his Grammy, even though he's in L.A.,

The annual hot-ticket party of BMG Music boss Clive Davis became a

Tennis stars dare to bare

FOR most red-blooded males, the thought of Anna Kournikova cavorting for the
cameras in exotic locations is the stuff of fantasy, although not anymore.
The Russian tennis star is now visible in all her glory after stripping down
to her bare essentials for this year's Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition,
and so too is colleague Serena Williams.
It's perhaps Williams's images, though, that will generate most gasps of
disbelief, with Kournikova having stripped down many times before.
Williams is captured in a number of poses, distorting her physique into the
type of positions usually reserved for the casts of Snoop Dogg or 50 Cent
film clips.
The special issue has become an institution synonymous with its top shelf
stable mate Playboy, giving kudos to its models, which last year included
Australia's Sarah O'Hare.
It is the 40th edition of the American magazine's swimsuit issue, and
alongside the athletes, there is a generous dose of "real" models, including
this year's cover girl Veronica Varekova.
The 26-year-old Czech beauty made her name in the Victoria's Secret lingerie
catalogue, as did Tyra Banks, who also features in a section labelled "SI's
Swimsuit Hall Of Fame".
Kournikova also appears on the cover, and it is likely that she will
generate an enormous amount of sales for the magazine's publishers, despite
her disappearance from the tennis scene through injury lately.
When she graced the cover of the Christmas 1999 issue of Australia's Inside
Sport in similar "summertime" poses, it sold like hot cakes and was, at the
time, its biggest issue.

That was almost exclusively owed to the interest of advertisers keen to ride
the coattails of the issue's correctly predicted popularity.
Disconsolate women seeking the attentions of partners engrossed in the
magazine's "articles" as Valentine's Day approaches need not despair,
however.
US sporting hunks Eddie George (American Football), Alex Rodriguez
(baseball), Tony Hawk (skateboarding) and Petr Nedved (ice hockey) are also
featured in photographs with models or partners.
The issue will provide welcome "exposure" for both Kournikova and Williams
since injuries have scuppered their tennis opportunities.
Williams, who failed to defend her title at this year's Australian Open, has
not played since winning Wimbledon in July 2003 after receiving surgery to
correct a problem with her left knee.
Kourikova, who has yet to win a title on the women's WTA Tour, has had a
niggling injury to her back for some months.

Man arrested in murder of Williams' sister

Compton, Calif. (Agencies) - Authorities arrested a 24-
year-old man in the shooting death of the eldest sister
of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams in a poor Los
Angeles suburb, police said on Monday.
Aaron Michael Hammer was arrested as a suspect in the
death on Sunday of Yetunde Price, 31, in Compton, an area
known for gang violence about 20 miles south of Los
Angeles, Sheriff's Deputy Bill Spear said. Details of the
arrest, the specific charges against Hammer or his
relationship to Price were not released.
Hammer was being held without bail at the Century
Regional Detention Facility in Los Angeles County, Spear
said. The shooting occurred at 12:15 a.m. (0715 GMT)
Sunday outside a house that witnesses described as
abandoned. It came after a confrontation between
neighbourhood residents and Price, who was riding in a
white sports utility vehicle with another man, Rolland
Wormley, 28, according to Spear.
Wormley, who was not injured, was later arrested on a
parole violation, the sheriff's office said on Monday. It
was unclear who had been driving the vehicle, it said.
Sheriff's deputies and a gang squad from the Compton
police department had initially surrounded the abandoned
house, where it was believed between one and three
suspects were barricaded. Police later determined the
suspects had left before they arrived, Sheriff's deputy
Richard Pena said.

Beyonce and Jay-Z win top awards
R&B diva Beyonce and her rap star boyfriend Jay-Z won separate awards and
were honoured for their hit song collaboration at the 2004 BET Awards.
Beyonce was named best female R&B artist, and Jay-Z won the award for top
male hip-hop artist. They both won for their collaboration on the hit Crazy
in Love.
OutKast won multiple honours for video of the year and best group.
Actress Mo'Nique hosted the awards ceremony at the Kodak Theatre in Los
Angeles overnight.
A lifetime achievement award was given to the Isley Brothers and s
humanitarian honour was accepted by Danny Glover.

TAMPA - Michael Jackson has found a friend in another celebrity who's had his
own brushes with the law - former baseball star Darryl Strawberry.
Strawberry, a member of the Without Walls International Church in Tampa,
ministered to Jackson during a trip to the singer's Neverland Ranch this
weekend, Randy White, the church's head pastor, said yesterday.
Strawberry attended the "You Are Not Alone" gathering of 600 people that
included tennis star Serena Williams, rapper MC Hammer and comic Eddie Griffin.
Strawberry, 41, released from a Florida prison in April after serving 11 months
on cocaine charges, has been sharing his experiences and talking about how his
faith helped him turn his life around.
Jackson, 45, is charged with seven counts of performing lewd or lascivious acts
upon a child younger than 14 and two counts of administering an intoxicating
agent. He maintains his innocence.

ALL eyes were on Serena Williams yesterday as she raised the flag on the
Australian Open with a 6-1 6-1 demolition of France's Camille Pin on Rod
Laver Arena.
The 2003 champion was given the honour of opening the tournament in the
absence of titleholder Justine Henin-Hardenne, who is recovering from a knee
injury.
Interest in Williams was concentrated on two fronts: her tennis and her
outfit, being equally unknown quantities.
Her game held up to scrutiny, but the same could not be said of her apparel,
and it was not just the event she kicked off.
In the second game of the match - a 10-minute marathon in which Pin faced
five break points - Williams lost her right shoe in the middle of a rally.
British umpire Alison Lang called a let and asked them to play the point
again as veteran observers concurred that they had never seen it happen
before.
Given the attention she pays to her attire - yesterday's appeared to
comprise one item from each of the past five decades, including a white
pleated skirt circa 1960 - it was surprising that she had forgotten to
secure her shoes.
"I have a bad habit, like I always slip in and out of my shoes, like they're
flip-flops," the American said.
"So I never tie them. So I just slip in, I go out and play matches, and slip
out.
"I guess I forgot to tie them."
While her world ranking has fallen to No.7, she has at least reached No.6 on
a recent list of the worst-dressed American women.
A fashion designer known in the US as 'Mr Blackwell' released his latest
rankings recently and Serena was in for a serve, coming in sixth behind
front-runner Nicollette Sheridan.
Williams, never knowingly underdressed, took exception to accusations of her
sartorial inelegance.
"I mean, come on, who was on that list?" she asked rhetorically.
"I mean, it was Lindsay Lohan. I'm sorry, she wears simple clothes and she
always dresses nice. Jessica Simpson - I have never seen her dress bad
myself. She wears some of the best clothes.
"It was like taking a shot at all of young Hollywood out there, and me, too.
"I didn't understand that list. I think he was upset that young Hollywood is
doing so well and taking over."
Depending on the success of an American sitcom called All Of Us, Williams
might soon be including herself among the television elite.
During the break between seasons, she filmed an episode of the show, in
which she was required to play herself and her ficticious sister, Wanda, who
sported a short, blonde wig.
"I played two roles. It was fun," Williams said. "I never do comedy. They
have been begging me to do a show but I never got the right .
"Finally, I saw this amazing . I never play myself, but they wanted me
to play myself and my assistant.
"My assistant was really kind of out there, she was really insane and very,
very unprofessional. So it was really, really a hilarious for me."
Williams, who missed last year's tournament after a knee reconstruction,
strode purposefully back on to Rod Laver Arena yesterday. She had obviously
taken pains over her preparation, in terms of her outfit if not her tennis.
White headband, yellow hair-ribbon, lime-coloured singlet complete with
gaping hole in the side, white skirt, blue cycle shorts and strange leggings
to just below the knee, which she removed after the hit-up - all was in
readiness, except for the shoes.
Williams admitted bravely that she had designed the outfit. She described
the old-style skirt as 'flowy'.
"I like the length, it's perfect," she said. "It's so flowy that any shorter
wouldn't be appropriate. I love how it just pops up and down. It's so flirty
and feminine for me."
Mr Blackwell, take note.
At some point in a discussion with Williams, matters must turn inevitably to
tennis, and after her wardrobe malfunction and her latest gear had been
exhausted as a topic of conversation, she declared herself "comfortable"
with her game.
Pin might not have been the best test of Williams' progress, though, the
Frenchwoman failing to hold her serve even once in the match.
It had the same effect as a spy plane; so stealthy was Pin's first delivery
that during one game, it failed to trouble the speed gun.
In the second round Williams will meet Dally Randriantefy of Madagascar, who
beat Czech qualifier Zuzana Ondraskova by the same score.
And, according to Williams, there are different outfits in store.
